Welcome to JDS Competition Team:
Always remember, you are the elite of our dance studio. As a representative of Jen’s Dance Spot, kindness and
respect is most important. Other students will look up to you and hope to be where you are one day. It is
imperative to always be kind and courteous when attending conventions and competitions. Judges,
choreographers and other studios will be paying attention to your behavior as a team. Jen’s Dance Spot has a no
tolerance policy, regarding unacceptable behavior.
Dance Requirements: Ballet and Jazz classes are a requirement for all team members. If you are competing in another
genre, you must take weekly classes in that genre, to keep up with basics and training. If excessive absences occur you
can be taken off the team.
All competition practices are mandatory, unless Mrs. Jennifer okays the absence. You are allowed up to 3 absences with a
written notice from a parent or doctor for competition and studio practices. Privates may be required for excessive
absences. If you have a total of 5 absences from competition and studio practices you will be on a period of probation for
2 weeks. Anything after 5 absences, the dancer will be pulled form the team and penalty fees will need to be paid.
Competition and Convention: Dancers are required to attend scheduled competitions and conventions. We will attend
minimum of 3 Conventions/Competitions and 3 Competitions. We may travel for some in Houston, Austin, Dallas and
San Antonio. All competition and convention payments are due as requested on the Fees Chart.
Competition Attire: Dancers are required to wear their company jackets during awards and must bring it with them to
every convention/competition. The company jacket, shirt, and shorts must be used as cover-ups when walking around
competitions/conventions. Our company attire will be used at conventions as a uniform to represent our studio. It will also
be used and allowed to wear during practices and or classes.
Costume fees are $100 per costume, per dance. You must have a separate pair of competition shoes that are strictly for
competition. We want to keep those neat and clean for stage performances. There will be a specific style to purchase as
every dancer must match from head to toe on stage. Company apparel fees and costume fees are separate!
Competition care kit is designed to include emergency tights, energy snacks, hair ties, brushes, hair spray, bobby pins,
extra make-up, safety pins, fabric glue, butt glue, rosin spray, and any extras that the dancer may need during
competitions. This kit will go with us everywhere we go.
Company Make-up: Lip Stick: Mary Jo K & Kylie (Kylie Lip kit, ULTA) Eye Shadow: Truly Madly Deeply Eyeshadow
(ColourPop, ULTA) Face: Neutral Blush, Black Mascara, Black/Brown eyeliner, False Eyelashes, Full Coverage
Foundation, Setting Spray.
Penalties: If for any reason, you drop-out and do not complete the full competition season, there will be a $175 fee per
dance. This fee will be used to cover the time taken to re-block and make adjustments to choreography for each piece.
Refunds: We will NOT offer refunds on any fees for any reason. This includes if you are taken off the team, leave on
your own account, or are unable to perform at any performance for any reason (including illness or injury). The ONLY
time refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled by the event itself and the funds are returned back to Jen’s Dance
Spot.
Volunteer and Community Service: In addition to being a role model for our studio, it is imperative to be an active
member of our community. As a member of our company we will be required to volunteer around our city and community
as a team. This may include guest performances, volunteer work, special events and grand openings. Being good
role models builds good character for our young dancers.

• Tennis: White Nike Air Force 1: $80.00
• Extra company shirts: $10.00
• Adding name to jacket and backpack will be an additional $10.00 each.
