WELCOME The Collie to Donnybrook Cycling Classic is celebrating its 93rd birthday and is one of Western Australia's most prestigious road races. The event includes: • Participation Ride: The 16km out and back ride from Collie caters for all levels of riders and school groups are encouraged to participate. The participation will be completed prior to the main events. • U15’s Handicap Race: The 40km out and back race begins in Throssell St Collie and heads towards Mumballup where riders will turn approximately 2km before Mumballup. Riders will then race back to the finish line. • U17’s Handicap Race: The out and back race begins in Throssell St Collie and heads to Mumballup where riders will turn right head approximately 7km before turning on Boyup Brook Road. Riders will then race back to the finish line. • Collie to Donnybrook & Return Cycle Classic: This race includes quality cyclists at local, state, national and international level. The out and back race begins in Throssell St Collie and heads to Mumballup where riders will turn right and head to Donnybrook. Upon reaching Donnybrook competitors turn right and ride into the main street of Donnybrook before turning in the main street and returning to Collie. It is anticipated the first riders will turn in Donnybrook at approximately 2.00pm. Motorbike riders will require Hi Vis vests and lead bikes will be required to carry a flag. All event vehicles are required to have their headlights turned on low beam.
RIDER AND SPECTATOR PARKING Saturday Please note there is ample parking within walking and riding distance of the start/ finish line. In recent years the start/ finish area has become congested due to the numbers of riders and increased volume of traffic and people attempting to park in the McDonalds car park. The McDonalds carpark opposite the start/ finish line will this year be closed. The majority of parking spaces in Throssell St will also be closed. Alternative parking areas Sunday Please note that there is ample parking in the Target carpark. The carpark is in the middle of the race circuit. Please do not park around the course in in Forest Street.
SPECTATOR VEHICLES Spectators out on course will not make it back to see the finish once the riders have turned at Mumballup heading for Collie. Spectator vehicles are requested not to follow individual riders during the race to prevent congestion on the road race course. Spectator vehicles will be ordered off the road by race officials if they are following riders. Riders will be disqualified if their followers are identified out on the road following riders. If spectators are planning to park and watch the race on parts of the course please proceed with caution and remember between Collie and Mumballup there are limited overtaking areas. For those that plan to watch parts of the course the following vantage points should be considered: Bonser Memorial: 12km from the start/finish. You will not get to watch the finish of the race if you choose to watch the riders go past this vantage point.
The Mumballup Pub: 21km from the start / finish. Two-up will be played during the afternoon at the “Mumby”. You will not get to watch the finish of the race if you choose to watch the riders go past this vantage point. Lowden Store: 36km from the start/ finish. You will not get to watch the finish of the race if you choose to watch the riders go past this vantage point. Donnybrook turnaround point in the centre of Donnybrook:
Start/ finish: Crown Hotel, Throssell St Collie. You will receive race updates at this location. RIDERS, VOLUNTEER AND OFFICIALS CHECK IN All riders, volunteers and officials are required to check in at the Registration Desk located in the Crown Hotel. VOLUNTEERS Please respect any requests from volunteers who are giving up their weekend to assist with the race! BRIEFINGS AND ROLL CALL All riders will be required attend a briefing with commissaires 15 minutes prior to their race start. time. Junior rollout times are as follows: U/15’s - 9.45am to 10.15am (unless otherwise determined by the chief commissaire). U/17’s - 10.45am to 11.15am (unless otherwise determined by the chief commissaire). FEED ZONE There will no feed zone SPARES VEHICLE As this a handicap event there are no spares vehicles. Riders are not permitted to accept spares during the race. ROAD RULES Any rider caught breaking the road rules will be DISQUALIFIED and withdrawn from the race. Police in both Collie and Donnybrook have indicated that they will have a strong presence out on the road. LITTERING Any rider caught or seen littering throughout the race by an event official or Commissaire will be fined a minimum of $100. Riders must take responsibility for their own litter. TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PLAN An approved Traffic Management Plan and permits have been approved for the road race. The road remains ‘open’ and riders must not cross the white line during the Race. Disqualification and a fine will occur in this instance. Please remember also this is an out and back course so riders may also be approaching in the opposite direction. WARM UP It is highly desirable that riders warming up and down prior to and after their events do so off the course. It is undesirable to have riders warming up on the racecourse when other races are in progress and traffic controllers are attempting to control traffic. Once again riders risk a fine and/or disqualification if they don’t obey this request. An area exists at the back of Throssell St to warm up.
TECHNICAL REGULATIONS The event will be conducted under the rules and regulations of Cycling Australia. The Cycling Australia scale of penalties will apply.
