Introduction Dear parents, We would like to welcome you and your children to our extracurricular programme. This handbook will provide you with an overview of the various extracurricular activities available at the Phorms Campus Hamburg and information on how to register for them – and for before and after school care in general. Furthermore, we have extended our offer for sport clubs which are in particularly high demand. Another new feature is that we will offer various workshops for our students some of which are provided by external partners. These workshops will function like clubs and will run for a limited time (up to a few months). They will be announced in advance by email. All this aims to make our extracurricular programme even more diverse and attractive for students and families. Alongside our new club offers you will also find many of our “classics” still on offer. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us during our office hours (Mon – Fri 10:00 am – 3:30 pm). You can contact us directly on the Hort mobile phone (0173 – 268 19 19), by landline telephone (040 325 370 60) or by email (hh.hort@phorms.de). On behalf of the club teachers, I would like to say how much we all are looking forward to a pleasant cooperation with you, and to a fun and exciting school year with the children! Yours faithfully, David Rosenzweig Hort coordinator Phorms Campus Hamburg 4
General information In the new school year we will continue to provide care before and after school in the Hort rooms, as well as the afternoon extracurricular programme. In this section we would like to give you a brief overview about everything important concerning the care and extracurricular programme that we offer here at school. Opening hours: 7:30 am – 8:45 am (before school care); and from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm (after school care). Please provide a pair of slippers for your child if they will regularly be in the Hort. Kindly remember to clearly label these with your child’s name! We kindly ask you to adhere to our opening and closing times, which means please do not bring your child to school before 7:30 am and please collect your child before 6:00 pm. If there is an unplanned delay picking up your child, please inform us as soon as possible by phone (mobile: 0173 – 268 19 19). Please contact us directly by phone, email, or dropping in (before 3:30pm, please!) if you need any information about the cost of care, or if you need to extend the care you have booked for your child. The extracurricular coordinator, David Rosenzweig, is available to answer your questions during his office hours from 10.00 am – 3:30 pm. Collecting your child Please remind your child to always report to the staff at the desk individually before they go home. We need to see that your child is being collected by an adult and may ask you for identification if we don’t recognise you. Please also allow for possible tidy-up time if your child has been playing for a while. Only adults authorized by a child’s legal guardians are permitted to collect children from our school. Please speak to the staff at the school office and complete an authorisation form if you wish to allow someone else to collect your child. If you intend to have your child picked up by an adult not on the authorization list (nanny, relatives, friends, other Phorms parents, etc.), please make sure to always inform the school office and the “Hort” staff in advance (in writing) by 2:30 pm at the latest. It is not possible for a person to collect a child from school without the prior permission a child’s parent/guardian! Please not that children under the age of 14 cannot collect younger siblings/relatives/friends. Additional costs will be incurred in the event of late pick-up. 5
Phorms holiday care Our daycare (“Hort”) is open during the Hamburg school holidays and provides care for students in the primary and junior secondary school. We will announce the dates of our closing times at the start of the school year to allow you sufficient time for preparation. Our current school calendar can be viewed on our website www.hamburg.phorms.de (this may be subject to change). During the school holidays we offer a holiday programme. This programme includes enhanced activities beyond the usual extracurricular offers for all Phorms Hamburg students. Opening hours during our holiday programme are from 8 am until 6 pm (care from 7:30 am is also possible upon request). We kindly ask you to bring your children to school by 9:00 at the latest. This allows us to start our daily programme punctually. Our holiday programme includes various creative projects or daytrips around the city. We ask you to pay for these activities on the first day of the week that your child is at school. In order to register for our holiday care programme you will receive a programme overview and a registration form prior to the holidays which can be downloaded from our website. After the closing date your registration will be binding. We wish to advise that costs may be incurred for late deregistration or absences. In case your child is ill during the school holiday and is registered for holiday care, we ask you to inform us by 9 am (mobile: 0173 – 268 19 19; email: hh.hort@phorms.de). How do I register my child for the holiday programme? 1st step: Register your general requirements for care during the holiday time promptly in the school office. The office staff will inform you of the costs. 2nd step: The holiday care programme will be available for you to download 3-4 weeks before the next school holidays from http://www.hamburg.phorms.de. The programme will give you more information about the activities for each day and a registration form to sign your child up for outings, creative projects, or care at school. To use this offer, you can either book a “Sockelwoche” = a “base week” (6 flexible days1) and/or any number of “Ferienwochen” = holiday weeks (except when using a base week, you always have to use 5 days consecutively when using a holiday week. It is not possible to use single days from a holiday week on various dates). Only with such a booking is participation in the Phorms holiday care programme possible! Please note: Holiday weeks or base weeks which are not used will expire at the end of the school year! Afternoon activities Our afternoon care offer is supplemented by a chargeable club programme. Closing date for the club registration is August 9, 2019. 1 You can only book one base week per school year. 6
The club fee for the 2019/20 school year is €22 per club per month – if not stated otherwise. Club fees are paid on a monthly basis and includes possible absences caused by holidays, illness (of child or club teacher), teacher training, etc. To establish a reliable group situation in our clubs we require students to participate for at least half a school year. Within that time it is only possible for a child to withdraw from a club for urgent reasons (on the recommendation of the club teacher, their class teacher, or due to illness). It is possible for a third party to continue an existing contract. Cancellation policy: You have an opportunity to cancel your child’s club registration before January 31. A reminder will be sent in December/January. Payments are done via direct debit. Some of our clubs schedule for performances for our parents at the end of the school year. All clubs – if not announced otherwise – will be held on the school premises. External clubs offered by our cooperation partners The external clubs are offered and conducted by external cooperation partners. This means that the registrations and payments are administered by these external partners and not by Phorms Hamburg. If you have questions about registrations or billing for these clubs, please call our external partners directly. Important: Please note that the external clubs offered by our partners are provided with different prices and general conditions of participation. Places in these clubs, like all Phorms clubs, are allocated in the order in which registrations are received. Please note the conditions of participation provided in this handbook. Collecting your child after a club Children are to be picked up after their club in the school foyer 7

Neurobic Neurobic is an active body workout, which is characterized by many cross-over movements which help build and train the brain’s neural networks. In particular the movements made with the soft training sticks help to train the participant’s concentration and coordination. By training with both hands, the “weak side” of a person’s brain is also trained so that the body can learn complex patterns of movement in a short time. It has been proven that regular Neurobic training helps to reduce stress and it provides practitioners with fresh energy as well as improving their responsiveness and motor skills. Come and learn this interesting new skill under the instruction of our Headmaster, Mr Kubasch! Craft and Art (3rd – 5th grade) A city made of dough, a garden of clay, a zoo made out of milk cartons… or a butterfly made out of sand? Which material fits best to which idea? We’ll make designs, think about which materials we find interesting, and build and craft with wood, natural materials, cardboard and recycled packaging. The result can be a city, a boat, or a colour of your own design. We’ll see where our ideas take us and will turn them into reality under the guidance of the artist and set designer, Amelie Hensel. If you want to explore new rooms and artistic possibilities and take pleasure in constructing things then you’re in the right place! Class: 3rd – 5th grade Participants: 10 Day: Thursday 4 pm – 5 pm Costs: €22/month Please bring along: Will be announced+ a paint shirt! What would your dream planet look like and which spring flowers grow in your mind? In this club we want to make stamps, use different materials to print with, and find out what on earth a ballpoint pen print or monotype is. To do this we’ll let ourselves be inspired by printed books and audio books. That way a shadow theatre can become the beginning of a picture book, or the completed prints can turn into your own birthday calendar. The set designer and artist Amelie Hensel will journey with you to far-off worlds and is looking forward to working with you to commemorate your journeys of imagination through the kingdom of the imagination in print! Class: 5th– 8th grade Participants: 10 Day: Wednesday 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm Costs: €30/month Please bring along: Will be announced+ a paint shirt! In addition to exhibitions, concerts, cafes, film evenings and much more, there will be a park along the Bille. You are asked to design a part of this area and develop your own ideas. How would it look? All possibilities are open to us – from a Japanese Zen garden, to a hedgerow landscape, to a cactus hill. How about plantable flower objects? Should your terrain perhaps convey a message? Should it be dark or cheerful? Will the park end up being a picture of plants? You have the chance to try something unique there. The young people there are straightforward and helpful, so I’m sure that we will only have good experiences on our little patch of land there. I’m looking forward to developing it with an adventurous and creative team of students. It would be convenient if you had a bike at school, because then we could cover the short distance to the park faster. Chinese (1st – 4th Grade) Chinese, one of the most widely spoken languages worldwide, is offered as a language course for children aged 6 to 10 in our school afternoon programme. Chinese is considered to be one of the most difficult languages to learn. Therefore, it is very important to develop children’s Chinese language skills from a young age.
