GOLF AT PROMONTORY CLUB PLAY YOUR WAY! Promontory’s Dye Canyon and Nicklaus Painted Valley Courses are consistently ranked among the top in Utah. Here’s to another great golf season of enjoying these world-class courses right in our backyard. As you pull up to the bag drop, an attendant will be ready to greet you and prepare your cart for your round. Head in to the Golf Shop for check-in and be sure to stop by the Promontory Pantry for a fresh start to your day. The complimentary Pantry is set each day with light fare such as breakfast tacos, pastries, yogurt, and fresh fruit. The locker room attendants are ready to assist you in obtaining a locker for the day, polish or change the spikes on your shoes, and assist you in the lounges. Starters provide complimentary ball markers, tees, ball mark repair tools and additional score cards when you take off at the first tee. Carts are equipped with caddie towels that will provide a superior clean for your golf equipment. Carts are also equipped with sand and seed, so please repair all divots on the fairways. We request that players observe the “90-degree rule” and cart path only when notified by the Golf Shop, Starter, or Marshall. Signs in the fairways will direct you to the cart path and will keep all players at a distance from the greens. Carts are never permitted in the native areas and all golfers driving a cart must be 16 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. The operator of the golf cart is responsible and must pay for any damage caused to a golf cart. Coolers with complimentary soft drinks and water are situated near your cart as you depart the clubhouse. Be sure to take advantage of these, as well as the complimentary beverages at the Turn Houses. This eliminates the need for beverage carts that may interrupt play. In addition to the complimentary items, unique lunch offerings are available for purchase at the Turn Houses. You can also find a variety of adult beverages available for purchase after 10 am. Restrooms and coolers with bottled water are located on holes #5 and #14 as well as the Turn Houses on both courses. The Signature Dye Canyon Course is an amazing layout with mountain views, dramatic elevation changes and a fun challenge for players of all levels. It can stretch out to over 7,690 yards and has 6 different tees to play from. GOLF AT PROMONTORY CLUB Continued The Dye Canyon Course offers “open play” to resort and invited guests for up to 8 tee times or 32 players per day in accordance with our community development agreement. Part of this is through a partnership with Stein Eriksen Lodge. Their guests have access to the Dye Course during the designated “open play” time spots, on a space available basis. As a thank you, Promontory Members receive a 10% discount at Stein’s for accommodations, spa, dining, and events. Discount cards are available at the Concierge at the Ranch Clubhouse (please contact the Member Services Director for Terms & Conditions). The Jack Nicklaus Painted Valley Course can be played as one of the longest in the nation from the back tees. At 8,098 yards, this is one of the most challenging courses you will ever play. Large open fairways and undulating greens make this course challenging for even the best of handicaps. The Nicklaus Painted Valley course is a Members-only course where members and their accompanied guests are allowed to play. From the opening tee on the 718-yard par 5 to the tee shot on #12, this course has its fair share of memorable holes and shots. With 6 different tees to TEE MARKERS at THE NICK GOLD – Championship (8,098 Yards) WHITE – Promontory (6,441 Yards) BLACK – Nicklaus (7,460 Yards) RUST – Park City (5,348 Yards) CHROME – Member (7,068 Yards) BROWN – Starter (4,505 Yards) New in 2020 was the opening of our new golf lounge, “The 19th” located in Double Deer at the Nicklaus Clubhouse. We accept all handicaps, even from your home Club if not Promontory. Please keep your handicap up-to-date and active. All tournament scores will be posted by the Golf Staff. Promontory is very supportive of playing programs that encourage everyone to enjoy golf more. Our staff is trained in assisting you to “play YOUR way.” 5
CHUCK’S AGRONOMY What preparations are involved in closing the golf courses for winter? To insure all the different tasks are finished in a timely manner, we close our courses in October. With the unpredictability of mother nature, there is a lot to accomplish in a short time. Between the two courses we aerify and topdress all tees, approaches and fairway drain basins. We also aerify the roughs next to the cart paths to help alleviate compaction from the carts. These areas will be verti-cut several times to pulverize the plugs, then drug-in and the remainder will be picked up or blown into the native. We will also hit fairway spots in the same manner. Tee markers, signage, flag poles, rope and stakes and marker blocks will be picked up and inspected for wear. These noted pieces will be refurbished or replaced during the winter. The green cups are also pulled and the hole filled with sand so the area won’t dry out. During our frosty mornings, we haul fence and T-posts to the greens along with the green and white tarps. Before we blow out the irrigation system, we soak the courses to help fill up the soil profile so they do not go into winter to dry. Until the snow covers the grass, desiccation is a large problem. To clear all the irrigation lines, valves and sprinklers it takes four 10-hour days to complete. Next, we will solid tine the greens at the Nicklaus to a depth of 7 inches with 1/2” tines. Sand will be applied first, so we don’t damage the green surface with the heavy equipment. After the aerification, the sand will be drug with a steel mat and finished with a mechanical broom to work the rest of the material into the holes. Hand brooming will help fill any holes and clean up any excess sand. This is a four day process if we don’t have any foul weather. Once aerification is complete we apply the chemicals to the greens, tees, approaches and fairways on to protect from snow mold. We apply the products to both courses over a period of four days using two sprayers, an 800-gal mix tank and five applicators. These applications need to be performed with temperatures above 40 degrees, and on unfrozen ground. 6
CHUCK’S AGRONOMY Continued On the Nicklaus Course, the Elk enjoy playing in and eat the grass off the bunker face. The sand itself is very light and prone to wind blowing it out of the bunkers. To combat these issues, we place wooden pallets throughout the bunker bottoms and faces. The next task is applying the covers to the greens. We only cover greens that are prone to ice, wind, desiccation or excessive snow. Before we can apply the covers, we have to take all the electric fences down, move the t-posts to the collars, pin down the covers, slide 2” PVC pipe over the T-post and the 6-foot fence is installed a foot above the ground. This gives enough height to the fence; the Elk won’t try to jump over it. The Dye course doesn’t have the height issue, so we only install 5-foot fences after the greens covers have been installed. I use more covers at the Dye course to protect the Poa annua mix. Some of our efforts to help us come out of winter healthier include adding a green colorant to our fall application of Snow Mold, which lasts under the snow and is present in the spring, helping warm up the turf sooner. We are also experimenting with topdressing on some tees and fairways this fall. Tests in Colorado and at Promontory showed leaving sand acted as a deterrent to the voles. They do not like the gritty grass and left the areas alone. We are expanding our areas to include more fairways and tee tops. Less winter damage means less spring clean-up. This is a lot of work to be performed in a short period of time. Our goal each Spring is to come out of the winter in the best playing condition possible. “A rough should have high grass. When you go bowling they don’t give you anything for landing in the gutter, do they?” - Lee Trevino Chuck O’Nan Director of Agronomy 7

With rambling sagebrush meadows on the front nine and the beautiful wind-protected canyons after the turn, I can create a great golf experience that everyone will enjoy. This course should land in the Top 100.” - Pete Dye “Promontory represents one of the best golf course design opportunities of my lifetime. The site that’s been selected is extraordinary and the development team has asked me to adopt a ‘no holds barred’ approach to my work. I’ve been given the freedom I need to design a masterpiece.” - Jack Nicklaus 9

CLUB & GOLF POLICIES Practice Range Practice balls are available for all golfing Members and their playing guests. Please practice from designated areas as this will assist in the perpetuation of a quality tee area. Practice balls are for use on the practice facilities and should not be used on the golf course for any reason. Violation of this policy could result in fines or suspension. Tipping Policy We strive to provide the finest service possible to all Members and their guests. Promontory is a non-tipping Club and it is imperative that ALL Members and guests adhere to this policy to ensure a consistent level of service. Tipping is solely permitted for caddies, as they are independent of the Club. We reward our hourly golf staff by Member participation in the Employee Holiday Fund each November. Pace of Play/Size of Groups As Promontory continues to grow and evolve as a Golf Club, pace of play and the size of groups on the golf course will continue to be a subject of discussion. Slower groups must allow faster groups to play through. During the Club’s busy days of the year smaller groups (singles and twosomes) may be required to pair up with one another in an effort to maintain expected pace of play. This will allow play at a more appropriate pace and improve the overall experience for all players. Each group will be expected to play 18 holes in 4 hours and 15 minutes regardless of size. Promontory will allow groups larger than 4 players if they are able to maintain this pace. If a group cannot maintain the correct pace, they will be immediately broken into smaller groups by the golf staff. Cell Phones As a courtesy to those around you, we ask that your cell phone is on silent or vibrate and that cell phone use does not affect the pace of play. Smoking Smoking is not permitted within 25 feet of building entries and exits. We are in a high-fire-danger area and request that no tobacco products be disposed of on or near the golf courses. 13

HOLE-IN-ONE PROGRAM Getting an “ACE” is one of the most special things that can happen for a golfer, so we all enjoy celebrating together! When a Member gets a Hole-in-One (“H-i-O”), they receive a commemorative plaque, their name memorialized on the “H-i-O” board in the golf shop, and if they are a participant in the optional “H-i-O” program they receive a credit to sponsor celebratory drinks at a member mixer. Any remaining balance from the fund can be used as a credit in the Golf Shop. The “H-i-O” program is funded by a $5 charge to each participating Golf Member’s account when the “H-i-O” is recorded. All golf members that have not opted out of the program will be charged. This initial charge covers the Primary Member and Member-A. Opting out can be accomplished by contacting Autumn Hatch at ahatch@promontoryclub.com. If junior, family or honorary members would like to participate, they need to sign up at the Golf Shop and will pay an additional $5 fee per “H-i-O”.
