Facilitated By: Sukh Shergill & Kirsten Hermanson Register in advance for this workshop: https://ca01web.zoom.us/meeting/register/ u5wodeysrD0iHtJKOx6lZFeDfgkEl1dYtzZ Growth Mindset Our Growth Mindset focus for May continues to be looking at how mistakes are opportunities for learning. We are working on understanding that the way we think about ourselves and the way we talk to ourselves plays a very strong role in developing our growth mindset. Self-talk is an important piece of developing a positive growth mindset. Some great ways to help support positive self-talk are to help your child rephrase statements using the power of “YET!” For example, your child may say to you, “I can’t do that. It’s too hard!” Help them rephrase to, “I can’t do that YET! It’s hard because I haven’t learned how to do it YET!” Another focus for this month is to try to learn something new. We are working on another community activity where all classes will engage in the same activity and then there will be a follow up activity sent home. Information will be sent home this coming week that explains this activity, and invites families to participate in a challenge to learn something new. Keep your eyes open for an email with more information! May Edition 3
