THE SUE PARKERSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND Established 1998 The purpose of the Sue Parkerson Memorial Scholarship Fund is to further Sue’s love for ministry to home-educated youth, whom she served diligently in the last eight years of her time on this earth. MORE ABOUT SUE PARKERSON: Committed to serving the Lord, dedicated to strengthening families, devoted to home education, wise in her counsel, enthusiastic in her work, and faithful in her friendships; this was Ella Sue Parkerson, a woman of God. We pray that this independent scholarship fund will continue to bless young people in the way Sue would have it. Therefore, its qualifications, application, and awarding criteria are designed with Sue’s interests and commitments in mind. WHO QUALIFIES: Each applicant must be a graduating homeschool senior, and planning to pursue vo-tech, college, or apprenticeship experiences within two years of graduation. The applicant must have been home educated for at least three years, and must have been registered according to the laws of his or her state of residence. The applicant’s family must have been a member of the Memphis-area Home Education Association (MHEA) for a minimum of three years. The applicant must also be a participant in the MHEA graduation ceremony. WHO WILL BE AWARDED: Because this scholarship focuses more on life goals than on academic accomplishments, the primary assignment is to write an essay as described in the application. An independent and impartial committee will review each application and essay. After praying for each student and petitioning God for guidance the committee will make a decision. The recipients selected for the scholarship will be announced and awarded at the MHEA graduation ceremony. The scholarship funds will be paid directly to the school or institution attending, or to the person providing apprenticeship training. HOW TO APPLY: Completed applications are due no later than April 4, in order to allow time for careful review and selection. The time limit on usage of the scholarship is two years from the date of graduation. If the funds are not applied to a vo-tech, college, or apprenticeship program by that time, the award money will be returned to the scholarship fund. Please do not provide more material or information than what is specified on the application. Doing so will result in disqualification of your application. HOW TO MAKE DONATIONS: If you would like to make a donation to this scholarship fund, please make checks to MHEA and mail to the address above, with the notation for the SUE PARKERSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND. Thank you and may God be glorified!
