Cliona’s Families
Cliona’s Foundation is a unique national organisation providing financial assistance directly to parents
of children with life-limiting or chronic complex care needs across the island of Ireland to help with the 2022 marks 15 years of working on behalf of families

This recognition is the gold standard for charities to offer assurances to donors, members and the Irish public. Cliona’s receives no state funding. We rely entirely on fundraising and events to continue to
meet the needs of the families who apply to us for financial assistance.
Governance: Cliona’s board have formally adopted The Charities Governance Code – as devised by the
Charity’s Regulator. There is approximately 4000 children and their families battling long term life limiting illnesses
on an ongoing basis. Sadly, it is estimated 400 of these children will die, and 400 more will be

How your funding is used by families.
To date ( Feb 2022 ) Cliona’s has helped 1004 families all over Ireland. Funds raised are
not used to pay for medical costs. Your donation is used to help families with the other
‘hidden costs’ including accommodation, parking, petrol, and other miscellaneous expenses
incurred by families.

‘After losing Cliona, which is one of the hardest crosses that life can throw at you, we wanted to do something
in memory of Cliona’s short life. We knew firsthand what it was like to have the emotional, mental, physical and
spiritual difficulty of caring for Cliona, but how on earth can parents cope with the massive day to day expenses
that come with this ordeal. We deeply appreciate the incredible support we have received from so many wonderful
people all over Ireland during the past 15 years. We are so grateful for the difference Cliona’s Foundation has made
to over 1000 families’
