Jesus is the glory of the Father. And that glory, come in the flesh, is what we celebrate at Christmas. Welcome to the worship of the living and triune God, who is full of grace and truth. This Sunday, Pastor Michael will conclude our series on the four Gospel Christmases with “Christmas in John” using John 1:1-14, read for us by Adam and Ashley Droogsma. Next Sunday, we will reflect on the visit of the Magi from Matthew 2:1-12. As part of our worship this morning, we have the privilege of gathering at the Lord’s table to participate in Holy Communion. All those who believe that Jesus is the Christ and the Savior from their sins and has a sincere desire to love and serve him as Lord are welcome to join us. If you are uncertain about Jesus, who he is, and your relationship with him, please seek out Pastor Michael or another trusted believer. We would be happy to introduce you to the freeing and life-changing grace of Jesus! We are happy to be back to providing the option for in-person worship this morning. If you do join us in person, please remember to wear you mask over your nose and mouth, maintain at least six feet of distance between yourself and others not in your immediate household, and avoid congregating before or after the service. Thank you for your cooperation, and welcome back! After the worship service, everyone is invited to stay at church or stay tuned online for our virtual Christmas Program– 2020: A Very COVID Christmas! We will be premiering it after the worship service, and it will also be on our YouTube channel for you to view anytime. Merry Christmas! Everyone is invited to join us in-person or online via our YouTube channel to celebrate the coming of the Christ Child. Our Christmas morning service will be held on Friday, December 25, at 10:00 a.m. Glory to God in the highest!

We express our sympathy to Carol Kragt and her family in the passing of Jim. Jim died peacefully in his home surrounded by Carol and the kids on Thursday morning. Please uphold Jim’s family, friends, and loved ones in prayer. We express our sympathy to Rosie Van Driel in the passing of her daughter, Gloria, last week Saturday. Gloria had been ill for some time, and now, because of her faith in Jesus, she is free from it all. A private funeral and burial service for Gerrit Veurink was held Saturday here in Pease. Eleanor and her family thank you for your prayers and expressions of sympathy. Curt Nobel is continuing with another round of cancer treatments. Please continue to uphold him in your prayers. We continue to remember the many members of our congregation who are in various stages of cancer treatment and recovery: Kevin Koppendrayer, Merlin Koppendrayer, Harlin Hanenburg, Bob Hastings, Jay Rensenbrink, Bob Van De Riet, and Tyler Gunnufson. We rejoice with Community Christian School that they were able to go the entire semester with in-person learning. This is a blessing from the Lord and due to the diligent efforts of many.
December was the month our church worked at the Milaca Area Pantry. Thank you to everyone who donated your time by unloading trucks, stocking, pre-packing, disbursements and cleaning. Your service to our community is greatly appreciated! At-home Faith Formation Tip - The Practice of Hospitality: “. . . and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. Guatemala Action Project (GAP) Update: Times they are a-changing! The GAP program has been going through a lot of exciting changes this year. Last year we closed the chapter of our partnership with Vine and Branches. We are now working on establishing a partnership with an incredible organization called AMI San Lucas. This is a branch of the Luke Society, and the work they’ve done, and continue to do, is astonishing. We were able to meet with them last year and learn about their work. They focus on areas like: Women’s work (health promotion, generating income, leadership development), Churches (empowering, training, etc.), Youth (identity in Christ, health, relationships), and Healthcare (operating a clinic, providing training in communities, preventative health, etc.) They also provide latrines and updated stove ventilation systems for families that show great need. This will completely redesign what our time in Guatemala looks like, what we as Pease CRC will provide for them, and the relationships that we will create. This is an exciting time and we can’t wait to share more! Please remember GAP in your prayers and in giving during the offering on Christmas morning. Help us spread the JOY of Christmas! Please have your cards to church TODAY, December 20th. Have their names clearly marked on the front of each envelope. A box will be available to you inside the West door to place your cards.
