MARCH 2022 MAYOR’S MESSAGE 2 DISCOVER Channahon UPCOMING EVENTS 2 SPRING GARAGE SALES 3 GOLF CART/UTV REGISTRATION 4
MAYOR’S MESSAGE March is Women’s History Month, and to kick off the month I wanted to share a tribute to my father. Yes, my dad. He was easily the most brilliant person I ever knew. Many times over the years, I have been asked to speak to women or about women and about achievements and successes. Always, in my narratives, I give credit to my dad. When I think about Village Board Meetings the invaluable gifts he gave me, I am overwhelmed with love and gratitude. • Monday, March 7, 2022 @ 6:00 PM • Monday, March 21, 2022 @ 6:00 PM I grew up as an only girl with all brothers and all male cousins. But, I was blessed with a dad who believed, “Girls can, too,” and he encouraged me to try. A man of quiet brilliance, he taught me myriad practical skills, and inspired and supported boundless creativity. But most importantly, he taught me my own strengths. Planning & Zoning Commission Meetings Girls can, too! He didn’t just say it, he meant it. • Monday, March 14, 2022 @ 6:00 PM He believed it! And so, I learned to believe it about myself. Special Budget Workshop Meeting That is an immeasurable gift! That knowledge and confidence in my own abilities is instilled in the fabric of my being and colors everything with hopefulness. It inspires me and challenges me • Saturday, March 19, 2022 @ 8:30 AM every day. My dad passed away January 24th of this year, but his gift to me will continue to live on 2022 State of the Village Address in everything I can achieve, every goal I can reach, every challenge I can meet, and every opportunity I can take to teach my granddaughter - and all young women - that girls can, too. • April 14, 2022 @ 8:00 AM And so my message for Women’s History Month is a tribute to my father, the man who made me a believer. Thank you, Dad. You were right; I can. Spring Village Garage Sales Best wishes, Mayor Missey Moorman Schumacher • April 28, 29 and 30, 2022 CONTACT US 24555 S.
