ADULT LITERACY CENTER Adult Programs We are looking to connect adult reading learners with enthusiastic tutors! Free tutoring to English learners and native speaking adults aged 18 and up. VCGS Free Lecture - “They Became Citizens: An Overview of American February 1 Naturalization Records” – Ted Gostin Oscar Contender TBD[R] Saturday, January 20 from 1 – 2:30pm, Community Room February 8 This lecture presents an overview of United States naturalization records. The first Oscar Contender TBD[R] national naturalization law was established in 1790, and therefore this lecture focuses on 19th and 20th century naturalization proceedings. Naturalization February 15 procedures and forms during two basic time periods are discussed: from 1790 (Throwback 3rd Thursday) to September 27, 1906; and from September 27, 1906 forward. Finding aids to In the Heat of the Night [1967’s naturalization records are discussed, and a short bibliography of key works on Best Picture] naturalization records is provided. Adult Programs Celebrate! Black History Month VCGS Free Lecture: Beginning African American Genealogy Saturday, February 17 from 1 - 2:30pm, Community Room This visually aided class introduces the beginning African American genealogist to the basic require- ments to connect their family tree. This class will facilitate their Chinese New Year Celebration journey through forms, charts and records. This will lead to a short Saturday, February 24 from 11am to 4pm discussion on finding the slave owner. Websites will be available. VCGS Free Lecture: Ad- The Camarillo Public Library and Ventura County Chinese American vanced African American Association welcomes the community in celebrating the Year of the Dog!
