Focus On Photography August 1st - September 4th The Blue Mountains Public Library is excited to announce the HOT SHOTS Teen Photo Competition. Capture “Summer” in a photo and email it to libraryprograms@thebluemountains.ca, or post it to our Facebook page to enter the contest. The lucky winner gets their photo all over the Library's social media pages and displayed in the L.E. Shore Library, and also wins a gift certificate from Free Spirit Tours. Imagine it — your prize-winning photography on display for the community to see! The winner will be announced on Tuesday, September 4th, so stay tuned for the big announcement. Grab your camera and start hunting for that perfect shot today. Book Tasting You know what books you like to read; but, what about those titles you’ve never heard of, or never would otherwise consider reading? Are they any good? Well, this is your chance to find out. On Friday, August 10th from 1-2pm, discover books, authors, genres and other gems to expand your bookshelf! This fun program also gives you an opportunity to critique books with your fellow peers. Tell them why you loved the book you just read. Listen as they try to convince you to read the latest series. If you’re looking to challenge yourself and others, this program is perfect for you. The Write Stuff Aspiring writers will enjoy this program. Local author, M.N. Seeley, will be at the L.E. Shore Library on Friday, August 17th, from 1-2pm. He’ll be talking about his novel, A Flicker of Shadows. Seeley will be digging deep into his inspirations, writing process, and his experiences with self-publishing. This is a great opportunity to pull back the cover and get to the very heart of one author's writing journey. If you have ever dreamed of being an author, this Teen-Only Engagement is perfect for you. Do you have what it takes to write and publish a novel? Spoiler alert: YES you do. More artwork is available for viewing in two of our hallway display cabinets. Participating artists are Vince Bowen, Joan Irvine, Katharine Kennie, Jo Ann Sauks, and Kathie Wright. September at a Glance BMFA: New and Emerging Artists The exhibit runs September 1st to October 3rd. 'Exploring Iceland' A travel talk with local photographer, Telfer Wegg.
