1 Event Organization Austrian Orienteering Federation (ÖFOL) Event Director: Josef Zapletal Ski-O Austria Senior Event Advisor: Christian Spoerry Municipality of Ramsau am Dachstein Assistant Event Advisor: Anssi Juutilainen National Controller: Adrian Wickert 2 Vision & Event Concept Embedded in and part of the Ski-O Tour 2023 and as pre-event to the WSOC/JWSOC/EYSOC 2024 in the same region, the event offers high-level Ski-O races for Elite and Junior runners as competitions in their own right and as preparation for the WSOC/JWSOC/EYSOC 2024. The organization of the Ski-O Tour World Cup 2023 comprises many of the same structures and facilities as the WSOC/JWSOC/EYSOC 2024. The World Cup races 2023 will be run primarily in parts of the terrain not planned for use in the WSOC/JWSOC/EYSOC 2024, but having similar characteristics. 3 Venue Ramsau am Dachstein, Styria, Austria Event center: Event Center Ramsau, Ramsau 350, 8972 Ramsau am Dachstein GPS coordinates: 47.420165, 13.652803 Event arena: XC Skiing Arena Ramsau GPS coordinates: 47.4191081, 13.6534363 Ramsau am Dachstein is a municipality in the district of Liezen in the state of Styria, Austria. It is also the name of the elevated plateau between the Dachstein range to the north and the Enns valley in the south on which the municipality is located. Ramsau am Dachstein is one of Austria’s best known cross-country skiing areas and offers ex- cellent terrain, sports infrastructure and lodging. Ski-O Tour World Cup www.ski-o.at/wcup2023 2
4 Competition Area The competition terrain ranges from open or semi-open to forested areas and from flat to steep. The event arena is located near the center of town and contains all the necessary infrastruc- ture for large cross-country skiing events. The World Cup races 2023 will be run primarily in parts of the terrain not planned for use in the WSOC/JWSOC/EYSOC 2024, but having similar characteristics. Previous Ski-O map of Ramsau and vicinity: A color copy of the map is available for download on IOF Eventor. 5 Climate & Altitide The average temperature in Ramsau am Dachstein in January is -7°C. 6 Classes World Cup / U23 World Cup: Women, Men with separate ranking for Women U23 and Men U23 Ski-O Tour: W21 Elite, M21 Elite, W20, M20 Open: W Open, M Open 7 Participation 7.1 World Cup All competitors represent a National Federation. A competitor may represent only one National Federation during any one 12 month pe- riod running from November to October. All competitors must be citizens of the country of the National Federation they are re-pre- senting. They must be able to provide either a passport or other valid documentation proving their citizenship. Each National Federation may enter a team with an unlimited number of competitors. Each National Federation may enter up to 6 women and 6 men in each individual compe- tition. In addition, each National Federation may enter up to a further 2 women and 2 men, who qualify for Women U23 and Men U23 respectively, in each individual competi- tion. All competitors must have a valid IOF Athlete Licence. Please ensure that the Athlete Licence fees are payed before the competitions. Each participating National Federation must appoint a team manager to act as a contact person between the team and the organizer. It is the team manager’s duty to see that the team receives all necessary information. 7.2 Ski-O Tour & Open Classes There are no participation restrictions for the Ski-O Tour and the Open classes. Competitors in the Ski-O Tour and Open classes are themselves responsible for entry, payment of fees and receiving the necessary information. All information will be published on the event website. 10 Payment 10.1 World Cup Payment deadline for the World Cup accreditation and entry fees is December 7th 2022. 13 Winning Times The winning times for the World Cup are planned according to the IOF rules (Men & Women): Sprint Pursuit Middle 12‘-15‘ 50‘-60‘ 40‘-45‘ 14 Punching System SPORTident touch free punching will be used. All World Cup and Ski-O Tour Elite competitors will be provided with two (2) SPORTident Ac- tiveCards (SIAC) by the organizer for the duration of the event (primary and secondary card). Only these may be used in the competitions. Participants in the Ski-O Tour Junior and Open classes may use their private SIAC. Please pro- vide the SIAC number when registering in IOF Eventor. If no SIAC number is given, you will be assigned a rental SIAC by the organizer for a small fee. 15 Embargoed Areas The totality of the Ramsau plateau is to be considered as embargoed for any kind of orient- eering activities. The use of roads, roller ski tracks, trails and permanent cross-country skiing tracks without a map is permitted until further notice. 16 Accommodation Ramsau am Dachstein offers a wide range and large number of accommodation possibilities in the immediate and nearby vicinity of the event center, from simple pensions and apart- ments to luxury hotels. Although there is plenty of accommodation in Ramsau, on the plateau and in the Schladming-Dachstein area, winter is a busy time in the region. Accommodation & embargo: There are no restrictions in regard to accommodation and the embargoed areas. Team leaders are asked to provide information about the booked ac- commodation though as soon as available to the event office (office@ski-o.at), so that special provisions can be taken for certain competitions if deemed necessary. 17 Entering Austria / Visa Requirements Austria belongs to the Schengen Area within the European Union. Citizens of EU member states, the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland do not need a visa for entering Austria. Nationals of other countries might require a visa in order to enter the Schengen Area or the Austrian territory. Information on entering Austria with a visa can be found on the website of the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International affairs under https://www.bmeia.gv.at/en/travel-stay/entrance-and-residence-in-austria/visa/. If further assistance or an invitation is needed, please contact the event office via office@ski-o.at. 18 Travel to Ramsau am Dachstein Ramsau am Dachstein can be reached by car or public transport. The nearest train station to Ramsau is Schladming, from where busses run regularly, servicing the Ramsau plateau. In wintertime, ski busses connect the towns on the Ramsau plateau free of charge. 19 Ban of Fluorinated Waxes Per ruling of the IOF Council, the use of fluorinated waxes is forbidden. For background and FAQs in regard to this decision, please see the information provided by the IOF: https://orienteering.sport/skio/faq-ban-of-fluorinated-waxes-in-skio/ Details on the implementation during the World Cup in Ramsau am Dachstein will be given in a later bulletin. 20 Ski-O Tour (SOT) The Ski-O Tour (SOT) will continue and conclude with further three races in Switzerland, start- ing Friday, January 13th 2023. For the competitions in Ramsau, the following procedure will be followed: Entries to the World Cup are to be done by the national federations. Athletes not entered for the World Cup but competing in the Ski-O Tour shall enter individually via IOF Even- tor. Athletes competing in the World Cup will automatically be considered in the SOT overall ranking. Athletes not competing in the World Cup are not eligible for World Cup points, only for WRE points.
