Brown Missionary Baptist Church 412 Youth Ministry 2020 Tri-State College Tour Frequently Asked Questions Why should students go on a college tour? Families will spend between $100,000 and $250,000 for a college education for one child. Thus, university education is a major investment, and naturally parents want to make the smartest and most secure choice possible. Students do well when they are in an environment where they are most content and appropriately challenged. Furthermore, an unhappy student who seeks to transfer uses time and emotional energy in applying, and often must re-adjust and lose credits in the process. Visiting college campuses is the single best way to get a sense of what a college is really like. How can we pay? The non-refundable $50 payment is due by Thursday, October 31. All payments will be paid online. There are payment plans available. (see the payment schedule) What’s included in the price? All costs for transport, hotels, and meals are included in the tour fee. Students should bring an adequate amount of money for snacks, souvenirs and other discretionary spending. Students are responsible for their own spending money. May parents go along on the tour? Due to limited bus, hotel, and tour space, as well as the instructional goals of the experience, this tour is reserved for students only. What are the transportation arrangements? The coach bus has approximately 56 seats and has outlets on it to charge phones or use a computer. All coaches have air conditioning, TVs and DVD players, GPS navigational system and a bathroom. We want students to be comfortable as we spend considerable time on the buses traveling between the various destinations. Where will they be staying? The college tour has a contract with Hilton Hotels. The hotels are under the Hilton Corporation which include Hampton Inn and Embassy Suites. The students will have chaperones and Brown Baptist Emergency Response Team which includes medical assistance if needed. Will students have to do anything prior to the trip? Yes. Students will go through a series of workshops, seminars, and interactive group sessions to prepare them for the tour, college admissions, college expectations, financial planning and more. These activities will be mandatory for all participants. If you have any questions please call Monica Johnson at 662.902.0602 or Rev.
