Automotive Technology

1st year fee: $310.00
2nd year fee: $18             Grade level: 11-12             Length: 2 year program

The Automotive Technology program is nationally accredited by the ASE Education
Foundation. Students learn the fundamentals of modern computer-controlled
vehicles.
The students become skilled in locating and diagnosing problems and making repairs
on all makes and models of automobiles. Area dealerships offer opportunities for
shadowing, internship, and cooperative education. Students have an opportunity to
earn MLR (Maintenance and Light Repair Certification) ASE student certification, as
well as other add-on certifications.

Oil, A/C Delco Certification, 609 Freon Certification, OSHA-10

Building Construction

1st year fee: $98
2nd year fee: $18              Grade level: 11-12              Length: 2 year program

The Building Construction program teaches students about residential and
commercial
Carpentry, Electrical, Masonry, and Plumbing. Carpentry Skills include blueprints, site
layout, floor framing, wall framing, roof framing, exterior and interior finishes,
employability and communications skills. Masonry Skills include facing concrete and
laying masonry units. Electrical Skills include basic wiring and understanding electrical
codes. Plumbing Skills include working with copper and PVC pipe, as well as
understanding the installation process. In the third semester of the program, students
may participate in the cooperative education program. This course offers NCCER Core
national certification.

Career Exploratory/Profession and Leadership Development

No fee                         Grade level: 10th only          Length: one semester

The Career Exploratory program is designed to introduce students to a variety of
career fields, from manufacturing to information technology to human services.
Students explore their interests, aptitudes, skills, and their individual learning styles in
order to find possible career matches. Students will work through a decision-making
process to develop their own career plan. Students will study professional leadership
skills in the areas of goal setting, problem-solving, and self-motivation to become
successful in the real-world.

Cosmetology

1st year fee: $450.00
(includes Cosmetology kit)
2nd year fee: $75              Grade level: 11-12              Length: 2 year program

The Cosmetology program is designed to prepare students to qualify for the licensing
examination. Cosmetology students receive training in the art and science of the care
and beautification of hair, skin, and nails. The course includes scalp treatments, hair
shaping, hair styling, setting, waving, hair coloring, and shampoos and rinses.
Instruction in chemistry, bacteriology, and anatomy and physiology of the face, head,
arms, and hands is incorporated by means of theory and practical application on both
mannequins and live models. Also included in the course of study is salon planning
and management. Only 20 students per year are accepted into this program per LLR
requirements. The required kit of supplies needed for completion of the program
must be purchased by each Cosmetology student at the beginning of the 11th grade
year.

Students must meet all requirements set forth by the SC Department of Labor,
Licensing, and Regulation, which includes providing a social security card and state
photo ID in order to receive a SC Cosmetology Licensure.

Culinary Arts

The Culinary Arts program is an in-depth study of safety, serving, food preparation,
menu planning, business accounting, and supervision/management. This program
is certified by the National Restaurant Association. Students who qualify are
eligible for twelve Early College credits through Greenville Tech.

Diesel Tech

The Diesel Technology program provides a broad foundation in the diesel repair field
by preparing students for entry level positions in the field of heavy-duty diesel vehicle
repair. Students gain skills in engine repair, fuel supply and management, suspension
and brakes, hydraulic systems operations, and lighting and instrumentation. Students
entering this program should exhibit mechanical aptitude, the ability to read and
follow instructions as outlined in service repair manuals and enjoy precision work and
problem solving.

Certifications: ASE Entry Level Medium/Heavy Duty IMMR and Brakes, SP2 Heavy Duty
Diesel Technology Safety Certification, OSHA-10
Esthetics

1st year fee: $464.00         Grade level: 11th-12th        Length: 2 year program
(includes Esthetics kit)

The Esthetics program is designed to prepare students to take the licensing exam.
Esthetics students receive training in the art and science of care and beautification of
skin. The course study includes instruction in skin diseases, disorders, chemistry,
anatomy, skin physiology, treatment services, professional development and business
basics. Facials, waxing, tweezing, make-up, and skin analysis are incorporated by
means of theory and practical application on both mannequins and models. Only 20
students per year are accepted into this program per LLR requirements. The required
kit of supplies needed for completion of the program must be purchased by each
Esthetics student at the beginning of the 11th grade year. Prices will vary each year.

Firefighting

This program is a cooperative program through the South Carolina fire Academy,
the SC department of Education and the City of Greer Fire Department. Students
that complete the two-year program will have the National Fire Protection
Association Firefighter 1 and 2 nationally recognized certifications. The students
are also members of Greer FD Explorer Post 103.

Certifications: National Fire Protection Association Firefighter 1&2, OSHA-10,
Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations, Basic Auto Extrication, CPR& First
Aid, Emergency Medical Responder, National Incident Management ICS100 and
ICS200
Machine Tool Technology

1st year fee: $250
2nd year fee: $18             Grade level: 11th-12th        Length: 2 year program

The Machine Tool Technology program prepares students for entry-level career
opportunities in modern computer-integrated manufacturing environments as
machinists, tool & die makers, production-control technicians, quality-control
technicians, CNC programmers, and CNC setup and operation technicians. Local
industry is heavily involved in this program.

Students must maintain an 80 average in the course.

Mechanical & Architectural Design

Students will have the opportunity to learn and develop employable skills with both
mechanical drawing techniques and AutoCAD software. Students may choose
between an engineering or architectural curriculum and develop blueprint reading
skills. Both courses (Mechanical & Architectural) offer two levels of instruction and an
opportunity to obtain an Autodesk AutoCAD User Certification. The curriculum will
utilize hands-on project-based learning with computers, 3D printer, laser, and large
format printing, table top machines, and power tools to provide opportunities for
students to apply design techniques, soft skills, teamwork, and problem solving
strategies. Students will be able to utilize the tools and equipment to take their
project ideas through the stages of planning, designing, prototyping, and production.
The challenging design projects would incorporate a variety of career paths and may
include electronic soldering projects, scale models of bridges, house framing models,
working catapults, coaster designs, etc.
Mechatronics

Mechatronics is defined as the combining of several disciplines, Electrical
Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Robotics. The combination of
these engineering disciplines creates design, development, and control of very
complex systems used in a range of industries including manufacturing, medicine,
aircraft, and all service industries. Mechatronics is a field that changes daily with
the rapid improvements in technology and computer systems. Systems are
networked to meet the demands of automated industrial processes and students
are trained to meet these necessary entry-level skills as well as entry into a post-
secondary school.

Students must maintain an 80 average in the course.

Welding

1st year fee: $140.00

This program is designed to prepare students to perform welding tasks under the
supervision of two experienced certified welders. Students learn GMAW, GTAW,
SMAW, FCAW, and cutting torch. This course offers AWS and OSHA-10 National
Certifications.
