Beauchamps High School – Year 13 Results Day “As the 2020 summer exam season was cancelled, this year’s Year 13 cohort have been awarded grades by the exam boards, based on information supplied by the schools. The exam boards have applied their own calculations, taking account of performance in previous years, to generate each individual student’s final grades. None of the usual benchmark data or headline figures which lend themselves to comparisons between this year and other years, or between schools, have any validity this year. Schools in this area have therefore come to an agreement that it would serve no purpose to release such figures into the public domain. Sitting exams would have been stressful enough for these young people, but losing the chance to prove what they can achieve has been even more so. So I am delighted that even under unprecedented circumstances, both the school and students have been able to celebrate excellent A Level and BTEC results this week. I am immensely proud of the commitment they have shown to their studies, the perseverance they have demonstrated throughout this entire situation, and of the positive attitudes which they have demonstrated both today and throughout this last year. We have endeavoured to make the occasion as valuable as possible for them, and staff have been available to assist in any queries that students have had throughout the whole process. Thankfully, students at Beauchamps High School are now able to celebrate, as their A Level and BTEC grades will allow them to pursue the sixth form courses or other education or employments routes of their choice.” Chloe J, the school’s top performing pupil, achieved A*, A, B and is delighted to have been accepted to train for the Metropolitan Police Force – a lifelong dream. “This is always something that I’ve wanted to do, and originally I applied for University and deferred, but now that I’ve been accepted by the Met, I’m really excited.” Meanwhile, Ashleigh M, who achieved A, B, B is excited about going to study Digital Marketing and Creative TV and Northampton University. “The marketing area of the course appeals to me as it will cover the business aspects of the course and then the creative side will focus on production; I wanted a course which balanced the two elements and I’m really pleased that I can go on to study there!” In other areas, Leia J-C achieved 3 Bs in Art and Design, English Literature and Media Studies and is looking forward to attending Anglia Ruskin University to study Primary Education. “I’ve always wanted to work with children, especially the younger pupils – so this is a dream come true”, she said. ”I can’t believe I’ve got the grades I wanted – I was really nervous!” Meanwhile Joe M, the school’s top performing boy, achieved an A*, B, B in Maths, Chemistry and Physics and is headed to York University to study Chemistry. The school would like to congratulate all students who have worked so hard over the years, and also to thank the staff for their efforts and inspiration, and parents for their continued support.
