Listening and Learning Top concerns are addressed in the SK Flex plan
Planning – Fall Prep Work Group ▪ 70+ administrators, parents, students, and support staff ▪ Met via Zoom for several meetings in May and June ▪ Reviewed survey feedback ▪ Considered guidance from OSPI and Health Department ▪ Compared proposed models from other districts ▪ Recommendation of two learning models: SK Flex and SK Online.
Shared Priorities While we are all hopeful for a full return to school this fall, we have made alternative plans based on guidance from the Department of Health, Kitsap Public Health District, and OSPI. We know that anything short of a complete return to school will cause disruptions to the lives of our families, students, and staff. As always, our priority is the health and safety of our students, staff, and community.
Two Options
SK Flex Option • Students divided into two groups to meet distancing requirements • Students in grades 2‐12 will receive instruction in class two days each week. Group 1 attends two days and group 2 attends two other days. Students receive remote instruction on the three days they are not in school buildings. • Students in grades K‐1 and some students receiving special education services would attend four days each week. • Wednesdays = Teacher check ins, collaboration, planning, small group work, and thorough cleaning to sanitize the school facilities. • South Kitsap students will be automatically enrolled in the SK Flex model and will need to “opt out” to enroll in SK Online Academy as an alternative.
SK Flex Option • Common Google Classroom platform for teacher/student/parent communication • South Kitsap curriculum used (Wit & Wisdom, etc.) • Focus on social emotional learning and student/staff wellness • Plan ties directly to our Top 5 Priority Plan focus areas: academics, wellness, safety, stewardship, and community partnerships. • If needed, SK Flex students could transition to remote learning if South Kitsap schools are closed as a mandate from the Governor.

Two Options
SK Online Option • SK Online is our fully remote learning option. This is a one‐year commitment for students and is different than remote learning days in SK Flex. • Supported by South Kitsap teachers who are not teaching in the SK Flex model. Learning Platforms: • Fuel Ed for grades K‐5 • Pearson Connexus for grades 6‐12 • SK Online will follow a typical school day schedule. • It will include virtual live instruction and/or recorded video lessons, and small group check‐in.
