December 20th-Posada Performance for Dual Language

                           Note from Mrs. Garza
Christmas time is my favorite time of the year. I love the way it smells,
looks, sounds and tastes! But, more than anything, I love the sparkle of
magic and joy in my own children’s eyes when they see and experience the
magic of the season. I am very fortunate because I get to see the magic of
the season in my two boys’ eyes, but also in each of your child’s eyes as
well. We are trying to make the Primary campus feels like a magical place
every day, but especially during the holidays. Part of the magic is in the
details, and we are working hard every day to make sure our details are
planned explicitly. Thank you for sharing your children with us. They are
truly the magic of the season!

Drop off and pick up
Thank you for your patience and grace as we get kids to class by 7:40.
As a reminder, we will close lanes at 7:35. You will need to park, and walk
your students across the crosswalk to get to the main doors of the building.
Also, the doors on the cafeteria side are locked at 7:35, and there is no
parking in this area.
We have to close drop off lines at 7:35 because school must start at 7:40.
This is so we can have the required number of instructional minutes each
day! We open the building at 7:00 each day, and our car lines and traffic
are relatively slow from 7:00-7:15.
Don’t worry though! If we have bad weather we will keep them open so kids
stay safe and dry! Our student’s safety and wellbeing is our top priority.

Box Tops
Keep SENDING IN THOSE Box Tops! We need them! They are ALL
OVER items we buy for the holidays. There is a cute little mailbox by the
main office.

Student Spotlight
Check out our student spotlight on our website this week! Each week we
will be shining a spotlight on our students and recognizing how they are
being kind to others! https://www.lvisd.org/Domain/11

The Mysterious Power Struggle
Grab some popcorn, a favorite beverage and make yourself comfortable
while you enjoy this short cinematic feature clip.

After viewing this video, you can read the questions below and reflect on
how this video clip relates to our interactions with colleagues, parents,
students, friends, family, etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqqKEgrPhHo&disable_polymer=true

   1. How could the situation have gone in a different direction?
   2. Did one person’s reaction/behavior directly affect the other person’s
      reaction/behavior?
   3. How does our behavior have a direct impact on the behavior of others
      around us?
   4. Do we find ourselves creating a power struggle with our students by how
      we respond to their behaviors?
   5. Do we push our student’s “buttons” intentionally knowing a negative
      response will follow?
   6. How do we set our students up for successful relationships and
      interactions among their peers?
   7. How do we provide opportunities for our students to learn problem solving
skills in real life situations? Do we facilitate the problem solving or do we
      solve the problem for them?
