The NJC Experience 1st Day of School • MONDAY 06 Jan 2020, 7:30 a.m., NJC Hall • Orientation Programme for students, and parents – No parking available in NJC, kindly make arrangements for parking elsewhere or use public transport. – Note the traffic condition in the Bukit Timah area, i.e. traffic will be very heavy around that time • Be in NJC school uniform (or primary school uniform if NJC uniform is not purchased by then) • What to Bring? refer to Welcome Letter
The NJC Experience Orientation and Start of Lessons • Orientation takes place for ONE week from 06 to 10 Jan 2020 • Lessons will commence the week beginning 13 Jan 2020 • Note for those taking Third Language: Third language lessons are held OUTSIDE of NJC, and administered by MOE. Lessons will commence the week of 13 Jan 2020. Please check for the start date of your lessons when you register with the language centres.
The NJC Experience General Information • Junior High start time – 7:40 am on all days except Thursdays – 8:40 am on Thursdays • CAFE Days – Generally on Mondays and Fridays – Expected to end by 6pm (exact timings -6th Jan) • 3rd Language – Arrange for lessons to be on Tuesdays and Thursdays – Exception only for the Malay Special Programme on Wednesdays
The NJC Experience Selection Tests: Art & Music Art Elective Programme (AEP) 7th January 2020 (Tuesday) 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Boarding School Dining Hall *Music Programme Music Selection Test * 30 December 2020 (Monday) 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. Music Room – Dunearn Block *Report to the GENERAL OFFICE 15 mins before start time and the Teacher I/C will bring you to the venue.

The NJC Experience Learning Device to be Used • Basic Requirements : iPad, 10.2” 32GB Wifi only (iPad Air or Mini is also suitable) • Parents may purchase device from Apple Education (Singapore) https://www.apple.com/sg_edu_4911/shop or any other resale outlets • Students who are on financial assistance schemes : Do NOT purchase first. HOD ICT will provide more info on first day of Orientation.

Features include: • Lock devices into a single app • Lock Screens to pause work or refocus • See what students see • Adherence of School Rules : To be kept in school bags unless requested by teachers, not to be used during canteen break etc. • Parental Control: Parents can sign up for Course in Apple Singapore or use Restrictions to block or limit specific apps/features/website on your child’s iPad

The NJC Experience JH1 : School Smart Cards (SSC) While waiting to use their Secondary School Level SSCs to be ready, they can use the Primary Level SSCs TILL END APRIL 2020. Students can purchase the Bus Concession Pass (BCP) using their Primary level SSCs but they would need to purchase the BCP for Secondary School Students.
