INTRODUCTION, INFORMATION & THINGS TO BRING INTRODUCTION The SANFL and Adelaide Crows have partnered to create an unforgettable one day round robin football experience for female students and their teachers. FORMAT The following format will run throughout the day, however this could vary depending on number of teams: • 2x 10 minute halves • 4 minute halftime break • 9 a-side matches (3x forwards, 3x midfields, and 3x defenders). Only forwards can kick goals, they will be identified by wearing a tag around their wrist. SIRENS All games will run on the one siren and will be sounded to: • Start the game • Halftime break • Start the second half • Conclude the game SPORTS TRAINER All Optus Crows Cup Carnivals will have a sports trainer, however it is recommended schools bring their own first aid kits. UMPIRES Each school is to provide a goal umpire and goal flags. Field umpires will be provided by schools, SEDA College, carnival staff or a combination. WATER STATIONS A water station will be set up near the sports trainer to fill up drink bottles. GAME BALLS Please leave the game balls with the umpire on the field. THINGS TO BRING • Marquee / tent / shelter (optional) • Forwards to wear tags or wrist bands • Water bottles • Warm up footballs • Sunscreen • Mouthguards (It is highly recommended that students bring their mouthguards for the event, and remove any jewellery before playing) • First aid kit • Wet weather gear, dry clothes & umbrella (if it rains) *Fixtures, map of oval / facilities, show bags will be provided on the day for each team. 2
RULES • No talking back to the umpires • No bullying – FREE Kick awarded • No abusive language – FREE Kick awarded • N o excessive violence/ rough conduct – FREE Kick awarded and warning given, player may be removed from the playing field Behaviours Please play within the spirit of the game. Shake hands after each match with the opposition and thank the umpires. Enjoy, have fun and respect each other. We will announce a winning team at the end of the day, however the main purpose of the carnival is participation and having a go. Please reinforce this to your students and set the example. Any issues please speak to the coordinator of the event directly. • F rom a ball up the rucks must not grab the ball and play on, rucks must tap it to a team member Ball ups • W here a scrimmage develops the umpire shall stop play, send players back into their positions and nominate a ball-up between two opponents of approximately equal size • L ast touch rule applies when the ball goes out of bounds. The team that touches it last, it will then go to the opposing team to bring back into play Out of bounds • If the umpire is unsure who it last came off, the umpire will bring the ball in 5 metres from the boundary and ball it up • W RAP AROUND tackles are permitted. However aggressive tackling is to be discouraged. Tackles There shall be no slinging • A player may bounce the ball once then must dispose of the football. A free kick will be Bouncing awarded if caught bouncing the ball twice • N o deliberate kicking the ball off the ground (soccering) Soccering A free kick will be awarded to the closest opposition • A player can steal the ball out of the opponents hands Stealing • A player can knock the ball out of the player’s hands in play (not after a mark has been payed). • A player can mark the ball from an untouched kick 10m from the kicker • A ny mark deemed by the umpire, to be held long enough and then dropped Marking will still be payed as a mark • Players can choose to either 1) play on from a mark or 2) walk back and have a kick • P layers are allowed to shepherd opposition players from their teammate Shepherding or ball within 5m of the ball • G oals and points can only be scored by the 3 forward players wearing a tag / wristband, midfielders or defenders are not to wear a wristband / tag • 6 points is scored for kicking the ball through the goal posts Scoring • 1 point is scored if: A player touches the ball and it goes through the goals The ball hits the goal post Misses the goals and the ball travels between a little post and big post. • Forwards must position themselves in the forward zone at each stoppage, a free kick will result after an initial warning Positioning • Players must swap positions at half time • Unlimited substitutions, but players should only play in one zone per half 3
WEATHER POLICY EVENTS WEATHER POLICY The AFC Community events Weather Policy is in place to ensure the safety of participants in our school clinics and major events. These participants include children, staff, volunteers and any other relevant personnel present on the day. CARNIVAL MODIFICATION If the weather consists of temperatures ranging between 30-37 degrees, the below modifications to the event will be considered to ensure participant safety. Any modifications will be discussed and communicated. *based on the Advertiser forecast on the previous day. Modifications to AFC Community events include: • Game times shortened • Length of game-quarters shortened • Extra break time between activities • Timing of the event changed (i.e. moved to earlier in the day) • Shade options provided • Water supply increased CARNIVAL CANCELLATION If the weather is 38 degrees or above, heavy rain, thunder, lightning, and hail consideration as to whether cancellation is required. * based on the Advertiser forecast on the previous day. AFC Community Department will communicate with schools via email if the forecast indicates any extreme weather. FIRST AID A qualified sports trainer will attend all major events. 4
