Rajesh Gupta, Head of Trading for Argos Financial Services, and Sarah Nelson, Group Financial Controller, have been named in the Financial Times EMPower Top 100 Ethnic Minority Leaders list. The list celebrates those fantastic role models in the UK who are improving their workplaces so they can inspire black, Asian and minority ethnic colleagues. Rajesh is chairman of our Argos BAME network, which he helped to set up and develop, while Sarah, who appears on the list for the second year running, coaches people in her BAME mentoring circles and shares her experiences through public speaking. What’s new Banana split We’re cutting waste and protecting the planet in our depots by swapping cardboard banana boxes with reusable folding plastic crates. The switch means we’ll be using four million fewer cardboard boxes in our business every year. Our Northampton and St Albans depots have already made the change, and it’ll be rolled out across our other depots in the coming months. The Design Manager for Sainsbury’s Home and Argos Home tells us the story behind the latest collection in store. Help through 13 hard times We’re very proud to support GroceryAid. Our CEO Mike is a lifelong patron and in the last financial year we raised just under £60,000, helping people who work in the grocery industry when they’re in need. O nce in a while, something can happen that totally knocks you off your feet. You might get ill or lose someone close. You could have relationship problems or money worries. However serious your problems feel, there’s support at hand from a charity for people who work in retail. This means you always have somewhere to turn.
