He hopes to be reinstated as a driving instructor. For what it’s worth, I was fortunate enough to sit in the back on a blue light training day with the Hertfordshire Constabulary a couple of years back. An unmarked Vauxhall Vectra as I recall. It was an unforgettable experience and the instructor said that Herts guidance was 20mph over in a marked limit and as fast as is safe in the national speed Well, I’m afraid that it is the same lead story once more this month. You’ve guessed it – smart limit. Well there we all are then. motorways. These roads were one of the top stories on BBC Breakfast this morning (March 9th). Apparently, a freedom of information request has now revealed that the cameras are not monitored 24/7 and it can take up to 17 minutes to spot a broken-down car in a ‘live’ lane. The programme And from speeding to drink-driving. There was a piece in the Mirror of February 22nd which told how featured an interview with a lady whose son was killed when the car he was in was hit whilst a man who drove to his allotment after boozing because he fancied a bit of onion in his sandwich stationary on a smart motorway. Edmund King, president of the AA, also appeared and said that the has been banned from the roads. Just before 1am he of motorway will be built. Good job too, I say. hopped (don’t you just love the Mirror’s use of language?) into his Ford Fiesta to head to his allotment – a mile away – to pick some onions when he got a puncture and crashed into a parked car. Griffiths was arrested at the scene in Hartcliffe, Bristol and a test found that he had 88mg of alcohol in 100ml There was a related piece in my local regional newspaper, the Western Morning News, on February of blood – the legal limit being 80mg. His ban will end three months early if he takes a drink-driving Government wants to abandon petrol and diesel fuelled cars in favour of electric or hydrogen vehicles course. Outside the court, Griffiths was asked by a reporter if he felt any remorse. He replied “F*** off and also introduce smarter roads. Yet when John Apter, the chairman of the Police Federation of or I’ll nut you.” Kind of says it all does it not. England and Wales, openly condemns the present concept of ‘Smart Motorways’ and the AA says that electric cars are an extra hazard, we must surely take note. Mr Apter says that all smart motorways are little more than human death traps, a very bold statement from a police chief. Smart motorways Some of you will know that I am a number plate nut. So, I was interested to see in the Sunday Mirror are not only a danger to the driving public but also the police, he says – a view seemingly accepted of March 8th that ex-radio 1 DJ ‘Diddy’ David Hamilton is selling his car number plate D1 DDY for by the RMI (Retail Motor Industry Federation) which advises its members to not respond to incidents £30,000. Then Chelsea and France footballer Didier Deschamps, also known as Diddy, nearly bought the plate – but David decided to keep it. Well, I bought M5 PSL many years ago and I have also decided to keep it! There was a story in the Mail of February 11th which caught my attention. It told how a police driving instructor who jumped red lights and drove at 101mph in a 30mph zone had been cleared of any driving offences. PC Paul Brown reached speeds of 122mph on a dual carriageway in an unmarked And there was a story in the Mail on Monday March 7th which said that one of Easter Island’s famous BMW X5 patrol car. Dashcam footage also showed the 48-year-old approaching roundabouts on statues has been smashed to bits after being hit by a pick-up truck. The Chilean driver has been the wrong side of the road with his blue lights on. But he was cleared of 16 motoring offences after charged with damaging a national monument after his brakes apparently failed. However, locals he said he was carrying out a self-assessment of his driving skills, known as continuing professional suggested it was vandalism.
