Avalon House Avalon House Welcome to the Autumn 2021 edition of our newsletter. Well, as you all know, we’ve made it through yet another lockdown situation just prior to Christmas. Now that we are on the other side of it, it has been wonderful to see our residents’ families back visiting and reconnecting. Welcome back!! We hope you will enjoy the review of our activities and events held over the last 3 months, including our Christmas party, Australia Day celebrations, Valentine’s Day, Shrove Tuesday, live concerts and more. As always, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome all the new residents and families who have joined us since the last newsletter release. Christmas Party a delight! Christmas at Avalon house was celebrated a little differently in 2020 due to Covid restrictions but, although our families were not able to attend, the residents had a beautiful and festive day. Bright decorations filled the home as we played Christmas carols that created a joyful atmosphere for all. Lunch was a scrumptious ham and turkey roast accompanied by plum pudding and ice cream, mince tarts and our traditional punch and wine. The gorgeous Leyla entertained our residents on the first floor, singing joyful Christmas songs while Natalia treated our ground floor residents to some spectacular piano. The staff also provided some entertainment, singing Christmas carols for the residents and performing the Conga line dance, which provided our residents with lots of laughs! The highlight of the day however, was when Santa made an appearance. Residents enjoyed taking photos and everyone was so happy! It was a beautiful atmosphere and a very special day.

Keeping up our Exercise Lock down has not prevented our residents from enjoying their daily exercises as we continued to run Covid safe classes that have our residents working up a sweat! Our classes involve a range of exercises tailored to suit individual capabilities and needs. Our exercise classes are often accompanied by workout music such as ABBA which really helps to keep our residents motivated to MOVE! Not only do these daily exercises assist in improving strength and flexibility but they also work wonders in improving the energy levels of our residents and increasing mood! We have introduced "hydration stations" so that our residents can enjoy a glass of refreshing cold water with fresh mint from the garden after each class.
