Baptism at St. Mary’s Dog Days of Summer August 1, 2021 So why do we call these “the dog days?” It has nothing to do with your dog. It has everything to do with God’s Dog. At least that’s how Sister Virginette explained it during science class. God had a dog. We had no idea. Was it Lassie? Was it Rin Tin Tin? What did God feed him? Who walked him? Was it a girl or a boy dog? We've enjoyed your help and energy! Prayers for a peaceful school year with great success in learning new things. Your pet food donations are so appreciated! We hold a pet food pantry each Thursday at 1 PM and give food away until it is gone. We're usually able to help about 30 to 50 pets. Many of the pet parents are elderly, and they struggle to feed themselves. They often do without food themselves to make sure the pets don't go hungry. Donations can be dropped off at Sophia's Kitchen Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 3 PM, or shipped directly to the kitchen at 103 S Richard Pryor Place, Peoria, 61605. 6 Welcome to the Heart of Peoria Catholic Community
