Friedrichshafen, Germany - Fresh fish and colorful
finned animals will be frolicking in tanks when the
Aqua-Fisch opens its gates from March 9 to 11, 2018.
Anglers, fly fishermen, and fans of aquariums and
terrariums will find a wide range of products offered
by some 160 exhibitors. Numerous hands-on
activities, presentation forums, and demonstrations
will provide a lively environment with fresh ideas.
The aquarium section puts its focus on the topic of
aquascaping. Activities for the next generation also
play a central role.
"The Aqua-Fisch features excellent quality in terms of the
products on offer and the supporting program. For fish and
reptile fans from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, the
trade fair has established itself as a meeting place for the
scene and has earned a good reputation, which we want to
live up to again this year,” say fair CEO Klaus Wellmann and

Aqua-Fisch also offers an extensive shopping platform:
Anglers and fly fishermen will find a hall containing the
appropriate equipment and accessories, clothing, fishing
supplies, fishing boats, smoking equipment, and travel
providers. In another hall, fans of aquariums and terrariums
will find accessories, food, and fish at the fish and plant
exchange, where they will also be able to obtain advice.
The two halls will be connected with Foyer Ost, where the
cooking studio of the AOK and various activity areas with
shows will be the focus.
Multifaceted: Fishkeeping and terrarium ownership
with the topic of aquascaping
A fascinating world of fish and reptiles with many plants
and animals will be presented in Hall B5. "We are very well
positioned this year in the aquarium and terrarium area;
the hall is full. We welcome the aquarium clubs from
Ravensburg, Kressbronn, and Konstanz as well as the Club
of Vorarlberg Aquarium Friends and the Association of
German Fishkeepers,” reports Petra Rathgeber. One focus
this year is on the topic of aquascaping. For example,
Manuel Krauss and Volker Jochum, two internationally
successful aquascapers, will be present: Manuel Krauss,
who specializes in movie replica aquariums, will be
demonstrating twice a day how to design underwater
environments to be aesthetic and multifaceted. In addition,
visitors will be able to admire ready-made movie aquariums,
such as ones based on Lord of the Rings and Star Wars.
Volker Jochum is a two-time world champion in aquascaping
and one of the best aquascapers in the world. Those who
want to purchase an aquarium including plants and

accessories at the Aqua-Fisch will have the chance to
immediately set it up at the fair together with the world
champion. Another colorful eye-catcher will be the fish
exchange of the aquarium club Multicolor Ailingen. The
Betta Helvetia team from Switzerland will provide advice on
keeping Bettas and bring fighting fish to Friedrichshafen for
sale and auction. Lovers of snakes, frogs, lizards, or spiders
will also be able to speak with like-minded people and
marvel at different terrariums on the three days of the fair
at the stand of Oberschwaben Reptile Friends as well as
with exhibitors from the terrarium industry.
Instructive: Experts provide tips about fly fishing and
angling
A popular meeting point for all anglers and fly fishermen
will be the presentation forums in Hall A7. Beginners and
advanced fishermen will be able to learn more about fishing
techniques and locations from experts such as Daniel
Andriani, Hans Spinnler, and Benedikt Götzfried.
Sustainable fishing will be the topic of a talk by Alex
Schütte. The presentation of Claudia Darga could also be of
interest to all men: The passionate carp angler will be
providing tips on "How Men Can Get the Women in Their
Lives Interested in Fishing.” Erwin Tibad and Peter Kunz will
be demonstrating the high art of tying flies every day at
their stand. At the fly fishing pool of Hall A7, visitors will be
able to try their own hand at the sport. In addition, Hans
Spinnler and Christopher Rownes will be demonstrating
different casting techniques. It will also be instructive to
take a look into the show pools of the State Fishing
Association (LFV) of Baden-Württemberg, where the Fish of
the Year 2018 will be swimming: the three-spined

stickleback. Its selection is meant to draw attention to the
unique way in which it lives and behavesand thus increase
awareness of the many peculiarities of the local fish fauna.
Full of action: Shows in Foyer Ost
Foyer Ost will be all about trying things out and
participating. Throughout the day there will be casting
demonstrations by members of the European Fly Fishing
Association as well as by the youth department of the
Regional Association of Southern
Württemberg-Hohenzollern. All interested parties are
welcome to become active themselves. The cooking studio
of the AOK will get visitors interested in seafood: Stephanie
Müller will be presenting recipes and putting healthy fish on
plates, from which visitors will be able to try a sample.
Anyone who has reeled a particularly large fish ashore and
photographed it in the past year can send their photo to
aqua-fisch@messe-fn.de to take part in the "Big Fish”
competition. The pictures will be exhibited in Foyer Ost and
awarded prizes.
Gaining experience: Activities for young visitors
Getting children and adolescents excited about fish and
reptiles is the goal of numerous activities at the fair. For
example, the smallest visitors will be able to marvel at
reptiles at a rally taking place across the trade fair, touch
fish and crabs on the fish-mobile of the State Fishing
Association of Baden-Württemberg, and view fish scales,
invertebrates, and gullet teeth under the microscope.
Young visitors will be able to have their first experiences
with fishing in Foyer Ost at a small pool with artificial fish,

and the children’s movie theater will also be available there
again. Visitors will be able to watch others or demonstrate
their own skills and talents at the casting demonstration of
the youth department of the Regional Association of
Southern Württemberg-Hohenzollern. Here it is about using
the fishing rod to complete precise long and short casts. A
painting competition in the run-up to the fair invites
students to get creative with the colorful underwater world.
The resulting paintings will be presented in an exhibition
during the trade fair. The most beautiful works of art will be
awarded prizes.
Opening hours and admission prices
Aqua-Fisch 2018 will be open from 9 am to 6 pm on Friday,
March 9th, and Saturday, March 10th, and from 9 am to 5
pm on Sunday, March 11th. The day ticket costs 11 euros
and the discounted day ticket 9 euros, with the family ticket
