APRIL 2021 CENTRAL COAST TOURISM NEWS AND EVENTS Happy Easter Break And a big THANKYOU to all our wonderful Volunteers “CREATION” An exhibition of paintings by Artist, Loretta Hingston of Ulverstone From the fine detail of wildlife painting to the colours and contours of the Tasmanian land and seascape, Loretta captures the wonder of the smallest creature to the longest wave of the sea. Exhibition opens Thursday 8th April 2021 at 2pm with an opportunity to Meet the Artist and enjoy afternoon tea in the Gawler Gallery. Contact Joy Watson on 0400 105 943 for any further details. The free event activities include – enjoying a cuppa, wander around the garden, pick berries or vegies in season, relax in the Gazebo, read a story, do a puzzle or just chat, animal feeding, petting and grooming, a variety of animals including poultry, pet goose, alpacas, sheep, ponies, donkey and Labrador dogs, and an opportunity to work alongside Primary School Children. Sun 4 Easter Fair – Easter Egg Hunt on the Farm – Mount Gnomon Farm, 886 Ironcliffe Road, Penguin, 11am. A family day out with an Easter egg scavenger hunt, craft and produce stalls, face painting, piglet patting and kids crafts. Talented local musician Brad Von Rock will provide live interactive family entertainment including hits from the wiggles which will get the children up and about and dancing with easter bunny. You get to sit back and enjoy a drink from the bar and some delicious barbecue food. Bring a basket and follow the clues. There will be several scavenger hunts for different age groups. Easter bunny will be present to assist follow the clues. The bar will be open and we will be serving a range of barbecue food options for the family. This is a ticketed event. The Harvest Moon Carrot Festival is back in 2021, bigger than ever! This year we are including all things vegetable in our celebration and our factory tours have been extended to include all of our production sites. Tours must be booked at least a day in advance - sign up via the ticket link below. Numbers for our tours are limited (and tours booked out fast in 2019!) Transport between factories will be on the Tractor Express – a hayride trailer pulled by a tractor (expertly piloted by our experienced tractor drivers!) Sun 18 Come and Try MTB – Cradle Coast Mountain Bike Club, Penguin Mountain Bike Park from 10am to 12.15pm. Cradle Coast MTB Club invite you along to our Come and Try MTB day at the Penguin mountain bike park! The idea is to encourage people, young and old who are considering getting into mountain biking or who have just begun and want some help and advice. We will discuss the basics of a mountain bike an offer some coaching and offer some guided rides. There will be qualified instructors, with first aid and WVP certification attending and a BBQ at lunchtime. A bike helmet is compulsory and a bike is preferred but does not have to be a mountain bike. If you don’t have either just contact us and we might be able to sort something out. The Tasmanian Rare Breeds Poultry Club is running a chook workshop to help those who would like to know more, or get some advice on keeping all sorts of poultry.
