April 1, 2021 Happy Holy Week to you all, I want to wish you all a very Blessed Easter weekend. May the sorrow and joy of Jesus’ death and resurrection be a sign of comfort and hope for us all. With the new CDC rules about 3’ of distance between students, I feel confident that we can move to a cap of 20 students per grade level for next school year. If things continue to improve I don’t see an issue with this. However, if the pandemic escalates over the summer, we could revert to the class cap of 18 for any classes that aren’t over 18 students at that point. If there is a positive COVID-19 case in the future, we will follow the 3’ of social distancing rule as our guide when determining which students are considered close contacts. Currently our desks, seating arrangements, and other policies will not be changed. We have made it this far, and we see the light at the end of the tunnel! We are so grateful for everyone's patience in adhering to the health guidelines in the MDH Decision Tree, and request that we all keep doing what we have been doing. I couldn’t be more thrilled with how much we have accomplished this year. Peace, Mr. Slaikeu Join the Saint Rose Running Club! Due to COVID-19, Saint Rose will not have a track team. Instead, Ms. Woodward and Ms. Odalen are hosting a weekly Run Club for students in grades 4-8. We will meet every Tuesday from 2:15-3:15. Forms have been sent home and must be returned by Thursday, April 8th in order to participate. If you did not receive a form, please reach out to Ms. Odalen. A $15 fee will also be charged for a t-shirt. Don't Forget About Your Flowers! All the remaining Easter flower orders should be picked up by 4 PM today Thursday, April 1 at church. It will be wonderful to have a little green around to celebrate spring! Thank you to Ali Cain and Home and School Association for hosting this fundraiser.
We Need Old Magazines! Mrs. Brytowski, our art teacher, is looking for old magazines for an upcoming project. She especially needs ones with lots of people in them. Thank you! Grandparents and Special Guests Day Wednesday, April 28 Please Share the Livestream Links! Grandparents and Special Guests Day is a very special tradition for Saint Rose of Lima families, students, the guests, our community, and staff. So in an effort to keep this tradition alive in some manner, we will be livestreaming our Grandparents and Special Guests Day Mass on all of our social media platforms. Mass will be at 8am, and we'd like to ask your help in getting the livestream links to grandparents and guests in advance of the event to facilitate viewing. Please share any/all of the links below with your children's guests. Thank you! Free Lunch All School Year! We're excited to announce that all students will have access to free lunches this whole school year. Free meals are now available to all children at Saint Rose. The USDA has announced it will waive all fees for school meals for the rest of the school year. This is an extension of the summer meals program that provided more than 185,000 meals to families throughout distance learning and into the summer. Students attending our Faithful Beginning Prekindergarten School Day or All Day programs will eat lunch in the classroom from 11:00 AM–11:30 AM. Students have the option of receiving lunch or milk or bringing a bag lunch and beverage from home.
If you have a current balance in your lunch account, you have two options. 1. Keep it and use it for 2021-2022 lunches at school. 2. State Offering Free Testing to Slow the Spread of Covid-19 The state of Minnesota is strongly encouraging people between the ages of 18- 35 to get tested for COVID-19 now, especially if you are in school and heading home for winter break. Anyone planning to see family over the holiday is also encouraged to get tested. To make it easier to get tested, the state is offeringNo-Cost At-Home COVID Testing for all Minnesotans - with or without symptoms. This saliva test is just as accurate as the nasal swab test and is available at no cost for every Minnesotan, whether or not you have insurance. With the COVID-19 positivity rate climbing higher than ever before, expanding access to COVID-19 testing to all communities across the state is critical to keeping Minnesotans informed and safe. Don't forget, after you get tested: Stay home and away from others, especially if you have symptoms. Even if you do not have symptoms, it is best to stay home, but if you have to leave, wear a mask and stay 6 feet from others. Start making a plan for what you will do if you have a positive test because you will need to stay home for at least 10 days. Make a list of people you have been in close contact with recently. Tell them you may have COVID-19 and they should stay away from others until they hear from you. If you were tested because you were in contact with someone who has COVID-19 and you do not have symptoms, you should stay home while waiting for your test results and you will need to stay home for 14 days even if your test is negative because you could still become sick. If you were tested out of curiosity or for an upcoming medical procedure and you do not have symptoms, you do not have to stay home while waiting for your test results.
