Thank you to those who put it together; it was so special to us. Additionally, it was a joy to be a part of the events before the pandemic hit - attending Special Olympics and learning Let’s keep Wenatchee sign language, reading to elementary students, hanging out with kiddos at their lunch, or traveling to Olympia. This is just what our family did. Often we were 'voluntold' to go be Jessie & Alex: Congratulations to our somewhere and or to help someone. Looking back, we didn’t truly realize the value of parents! “The Journey” began in the service – or the importance of getting involved. The legacy that they taught us is to give spring of 1974 when Adele Fischer back, serve others, volunteer, and to try to leave something better than how it started. Haley became Apple Blossom Princess. Everywhere we lived, Pat and Adele were helping at concessions, serving on boards, This started a lifelong dedication to the taking tickets, booster club president, coaching sports teams, greeting at the door, - and Apple Blossom Festival. this doesn’t even include Apple Blossom. Born and raised in the Wenatchee 38 years after Adele became princess, she served in the highest volunteer position as Valley, and the daughter of an orchardist Director General in 2012. Before she was Director General, Adele was involved as board the Apple Blossom Festival to Adele member, pre parade chairperson, auction, as well as numerous other roles and countless was much more than a scholarship and volunteer hours – there virtually isn’t a spot that she hasn’t been involved with – serving a season of commitment; it became a wherever needed. She grew up in the Wenatchee Valley graduating from Eastmont High School and furthering her education at Washington State University, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. After college, she moved to Seattle and started her career in the insurance industry, as an Underwriter for Etna. After she met her husband Mike and had their son Jeff, they moved back to the Wenatchee Valley and both began working for her father Bob Mitchell…and soon daughters Lauren and Christine were added to the family. Eventually Bob, Lori & Mike started their own insurance agency which is now Mitchell, Reed & Schmitten Insurance. Lori was one of two female insurance producers in the valley at the time. Throughout her life she has gained a sense of community within her family and with volunteering. When she isn’t working, she is amongst her family—living next door to her mom and dad, aunt and uncle and cousins on their “family compound” Her whole adult life has been centered around bringing people together. May it be with community involvement or her family, Lori has her hand in everything. For almost a decade she hosted bi-yearly lunches for local Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Lori is a member of the Wenatchee Central Lions Club. She has served on their board of directors, been a lion tamer, and is a past president, and also was presented with the highest award among Lions….the Melvin Jones Fellowship award. She also played the piano at meetings….her family loved listening to her practice. Lori also sits on the Mitchell Reed Schmitten and the Cashmere Valley Bank board of directors, and is the International Insurance Agents and Brokers Association National Director for Washington State, a title that she took only after she was President. But the Apple Blossom Festival has definitely been one of Lori’s passions. Her daughters were both Top Ten Candidates, she was a Royalty Chaperone for two years and a Pageant Director. Lori was the 2020 Director General of the Apple Blossom Festival in the midst of a global pandemic. She held us all together with her positive outlook and energy. Lori has a way of making you feel like you are the most important person in the room! Thank you Lori for being you….we couldn’t have gotten through this year without you!
