ANKENY CENTENNIAL CHEERLEADING TRY-OUT INFORMATION 2019-2020 Dear Prospective Centennial Cheerleaders and Parents: WELCOME! You have decided to be a part of the Centennial Cheerleading program! Please read this packet and discuss the information with each other before completing the online application and signing the acceptance documents. Your signature indicates that you and your daughter/son understand that cheerleading requires time, energy, dedication, commitment, dependability, costs and a willingness to support our cheer program. Cheerleading is hard work but is VERY rewarding for those who are willing to put forth the effort. You have to be loaded with spirit and have a true desire to represent your school. You have to WANT to participate in all the activities requiring cheerleader involvement. You must be willing to do your share. More than anything else, you will develop friendships and memories that will last a lifetime! Being a part of a squad means that there are people counting on you. You will be expected to keep your grades up and maintain your cheering eligibility. Many of Centennial cheerleaders combine good time management skills and study habits to maintain a 3.25 GPA, making them eligible for the CIML Academic Award. As coaches, we will accept nothing less than your best in both academics and cheerleading. Centennial Cheerleaders are highly visible in the community. You will have the opportunity to represent our school at the local and state level. This includes cheering at highly attended and televised sporting events, competing at the state competition and participating in events like Iowa Honor Squad. Additionally, we expect that you participate in activities closer to home in the community such as Chamber events and School Fun nights. You will be expected to be a model representative of Ankeny Centennial High School and the cheerleading program at home and at other schools. Always remember, little girls and boys are looking up to you and want to be just like YOU! The commitment is yours to make. Consider your participation seriously. In the past six years, Centennial squads have cheered at many exciting play-off games and even at state championships. As a program, our squad has competed at both the Triton Challenge competition and The Iowa Cheerleading Championships (State) with routines placing multiple top 10 placements, including a 3rd place finish for a time-out routine as well as a state title in 4a group stunt. We plan to build on this great success and continue to improve each year. Being a part of the Centennial Cheerleading Program is something to be proud of. We know you will find cheerleading rewarding and fun! Cheerfully, Alyssa Howlett, Emily Aukes, Erin Blessman, and Kaylee Brugioni
