Singapore is ageing rapidly By 2030, there will be over 900,000 Singaporean seniors We will have fewer people of working age to support our seniors 1970 2015 2030 But we are also living longer but healthier lives 2

National Seniors’ Health Programme • Healthy lifestyle campaigns and activities in the community, to promote preventive health messages and encourage health-promoting behaviours • Over 200,000 seniors (i.e. 1 in 2) reached Physical Activity (Sept Nutrition (May 2016) – Educate 2015) – 7 simple exercises seniors on the importance of good seniors can do at home nutrition Falls Prevention (Jul 2016) Stroke Awareness Campaign –Provide 5 simple tips to (Oct 2016) – Signs and reduce risk of falls. symptoms of stroke Physical Activity Part 2 (Mar 2017) – 7 simple exercises seniors, including those with reduced mobility, can do at home
National Seniors’ Health Programme • Targeted interventions for mature workers at workplaces, to increase convenience and accessibility to preventive health services “Check Car, Check Body” Health screening/coaching sessions Impacted more than 23,000 workers for taxi drivers when they send in in 7 sectors thus far their taxis for monthly servicing 12
National Silver Academy • Opportunities for seniors to learn for interest and to stay active: • Over 10,000 learning places across 500 courses in a range of areas, including health and wellness, humanities, media and finance • Intergenerational Learning Programme SUBSIDISED SHORT COURSES & INTER-GENERATIONAL LEARNING EXAM FREE MODULES PROGRAMME Within a network of universities, polytechnics, In Schools ITE, non-profit community organisations 11
A National Senior Volunteerism Movement • Championed by the President’s Challenge • $40 million Silver Volunteer Fund • Created over 6,500 volunteer opportunities in a range of areas, including aged care, arts and horticulture TRAINING AND OUTREACH CAPABILITY BUILDING For senior volunteers For community organisations 10
Employment & Workplace longevity • Re-employment age raised from 65 to 67 by 2017 to enable workers to work longer if they are willing and able to • Help older workers seeking a career transition as well as preparing for retirement via pilot programme by Centre for Seniors, in partnership with unions and employers • Promote age-friendly workplaces through Enhanced WorkPro Scheme, which has benefitted over 60 companies and 1,000 workers 11

Passion Silver Concession Card Launched on 4 Dec 2016, the PAssion Silver Concession Card is a 2-in-1 card that combines the PAssion Silver Card and purple Senior Citizen Concession Card. It is issued free to every Singaporean aged 60 and above or as they turn 60. • Partnership with People’s Association and Singapore Business Federation. • More than 120 community partners, businesses and Trade Associations and Chambers have come on board to offer benefits and privileges to cardholders. • Benefits and discounts at over 1,000 participating PAssion Silver merchant outlets • Concessionary fares on public transport 13
Community Befriending Programme Tap on younger or active seniors to befriend vulnerable and isolated seniors in the community • Target group: caregivers, seniors who live alone or with elderly spouse • Target to expand CBP to 50 constituencies by 2020. • Today, we have more than 580 senior volunteers serving 350 Mdm Lee and Mr Teo, reminiscing about old vulnerable seniors in more than photographs 33 constituencies. 14
