Working Group Strategic Discussion– Issues/action items/blockers/successes
Gamut Mapping Implementation Working Group Co-Chairs : Carol Payne (Net ix) & Matthias Scharfenberg (ILM) fl
Progress The implementation group is up and running since the last TAC! We have had seven meetings so far with great attendance from a range of developers, users, and folks who were a part of the Architecture group. It has been great to have new faces, and to spend the rst block of meetings revisiting key decisions made in architecture. A key point to bring up is the decision to have the of cial ACES implementation of the Gamut Compression Operator be xed - exactly as the CTL currently speci ed. We will tackle this rst, and then possibly circle back to the discussion of parameterization, most likely per-application and not within the ACES framework. fi fi fi fi fi
Current Focus Current focus is on implementation in OpenColorIO. Goal is to have it implemented soon (v2 only) so that it will be a part of the OCIO 2.1 release which will be in VFX Reference Platform 2022. We are making good progress here, and already have several volunteers from the OCIO community willing to integrate the feature.
Future Focus Other primary applications we are looking to integrate: Resolve, Baselight, Livegrade, Colorfront. Goal is to have at least one application from each pipeline discipline implemented, so that theoretically, using these tools, you could run a full end to end production utilizing the Gamut Compression operator as needed.

CLF Implementation Working Group Discussion & Questions
IDT Implementation Working Group Chair: Josh Pines (Technicolor)
Review of stated goals Provide standard procedure for camera manufactures to follow in creating IDT's. - separate strategies for professional cameras vs. 'black box' cameras. Provide a simple checklist to aid in real-world photography sessions - for both creating and/or vetting IDT’s for a speci c camera. Provide a reference implementation of the math steps involved. fi
Testing Although we have some of the above ready to test, much of this work has been 'ivory tower' research – now we need to try them out with real cameras shooting in real world conditions, which has been dif cult to coordinate over the past year initial mini-tests have been attempted (what could possibly go wrong?) and have provided useful info to add to the checklist (speci cally mistakes to avoid!) fi fi
Testing Industry work ow test materials shoot (aka AMF shoot, aka 'Francesco' shoot) A controlled shoot of charts involving multiple cameras is happening *as we speak*. This shoot should provide us with material for the following: - Allow us to vet several professional cameras IDT's against a real world test - Both linearization and IDT matrix reference implementation - Produce real data for some 'black box' cameras - Re ne the IDT real-world shoot "checklist" based on experience with this shoot We will have a ton of images and data to sort through rst, and we’ll have to gure out a good ef cient way of sharing these among the working group. fi fl fi fi fi
