Absolutely Incredible Kid Day 2021 may have come and gone. BUT, the impact this single day for spreading love and kindness will be remembered forever. Last year, we could not deliver AIKD letters to due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We channeled this little disappointment into making sure our AIKD 2021 was a big event– and that is exactly what happened! Camp Fire Gulf Wind, Inc. was able to distribute encouraging letters written by those in the community to 10 schools within Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. With the help of Central Credit Union of Florida, we also made way into Bay County’s Boys and Girls Club. Being one of 52 councils across the country, Camp Fire Gulf Wind, Inc. shares in the desire to help kids prepare for life with its renowned “Thrive{ology) framework based upon the pillars of Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Camp Fire Gulf Wind, Inc. continues to inspire youth in its after- school, Teens-In-Action, child-care centers, and summer camp programs along the Gulf Coast today.
It is hard to believe Camp Fire is already 111 years old... but I guess time flies when you’re having fun? � Here is to making our 111th year the best one yet! Camp Fire will be moving forward as it has for well over the last century now. At Camp Fire, our mission is to provide Youth with the firm foundation they need for growing into the best versions of themselves!

Camp Fire at PSC and Century Youth Monday: Learning Center both took part in Crazy Hat/Wear Stripes Day celebrating Dr. Suess Week 2021! Tuesday: The first week of March is spent Wear RED Day acknowledging Dr. Suess’ birthday by reminiscing on this author’s famous Wednesday: book characters. Every camper dressed Mismatched/Backwards Day up in a crazy different way each day! Thursday: Check out what the Dr. Suess Week Crazy Sock Day “theme schedule” was…. Friday: Crazy Hair Day
We wanted to spotlight Century Youth Learning Center after they achieved an OUTSTANDING SCORE on their School Readiness Program evaluation from the Early Learning Coalition of Escambia County. Under rule 6M-9.115, F.A.C, centers serving children from birth to kindergarten entry must be analyzed on their performance to be issues a contract for 2021/2022. Not only did Century Youth Learning Center meet the threshold, but exceeded it by a great deal! Earning a composite score of 5.77 when just a 4.0 was required. WOW!!! Congratulations to Mrs. Misty Lambeth and her hard-working team for their dedication to helping kids succeed! We could not be PROUDER of you!!!!! Century Youth Learning Center offers both Voluntary- Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) and After-School programs during the academic year. Additionally, they serve youth with Wise & Wise Summer Camps from early June to late August. AIKD Season is our FAVORITE season… and we wouldn’t have it any other way! Camp Fire Gulf Wind, Inc. attended many public appearances in hopes of making AIKD the most extravagant it could be! From tabling in the Cordova Mall on March 13th to attending Rotary Meetings, we did everything to get the word out there! Camp Fire met its goal of delivering 8,000 AIKD letters to low-performing schools in our area. That’s the cherry on top! Thank you so much to PACE Center for Girls of EscaRosa for your assistance with sorting letters and packaging them!

Our 5 “Absolutely Incredible Kids” of Northwest Florida award winners! This competition was open to all kids ages K-12 who are leading, helping our community, and excelling in school. This year’s competition was tough and the number of nominations we received were overwhelming. However, that’s a good thing!! Thanks to an esteemed judges panel, we were able to narrow it own to 5 top-notch young people in our area. Central Credit Union of Florida’s various branches collected over 600 AIKD Letters!!✨ We were speechless.
