SAFARI UNLOADED Including: MalaMala Game Reserve, Mashatu Game Reserve, Setari Camp and Muchenje Safari Lodge Our journey starts off in the vast, magical land of MalaMala Game Reserve, the safari’s blueprint for the luxury photographic safari. It has been in existence since 1927, offering the most exciting wildlife experience this side of the equator. Onto Mashatu Game Reserve, the Land of the Giants, is located in the Northern Tuli Game Reserve in Botswana. Be charmed by the vast open spaces, biodiversity of wildlife, majestic skies and the tranquility interspersed with birdsong and sound of the wild. This vast area forms part of the cross country boundary wildlife conservation area protecting the substantial biodiversity of fauna and flora in this region. Next will be the legendary Okavango Delta. Each year the Okavango Delta presents a different scenario to its inhabitants and its visitors. The annual flood is an eagerly awaited event and the levels of the incoming water have an enormous impact. When the floods arrive, much of the savannah is submerged-forcing the wildlife to concentrate on fewer and smaller islands. The area covered by game drives may be reduced; however the drives are often more productive. Muchenje Safari Lodge is the last stop on the journey. It is situated high on an escarpment on the quieter western side of the Botswana’s Chobe National Park. With wonderful views of the Chobe River and the seasonal flood plains. Chobe is renowned for its prolific wildlife and huge concentrations of game.

At a mammoth 13 200 ha (33 000 acres), MalaMala lies sandwiched between the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and the world famous Kruger National Park. The 19 km (12 mile) unfenced border with this massive wildlife conservancy provides unimpeded access to wildlife. Of great appeal to such wildlife is the vast array of MalaMala’s habitat type - ranging from open savannah to dense riparian zones and granite outcrops. But perhaps the strongest allure to wildlife is the perennial Sand River of which 13 km (8 miles) flow through the reserve. https://www.malamala.com/

The Okavango Delta is an astonishing sight and one of the most magical places on the Planet. A mind- boggling 15,000 square kilometres of palm-fringed islands, thick woodland, intricate waterways, all resplendent with lavish vegetation and rich in wildlife. It is the largest intact inland delta in the world and one which will remain in your heart and soul forever. Tucked deep within the main ‘artery’ of the Okavango on a picture-perfect palm island you will find Setari Camp. The ideal spot to explore and marvel at all this watery wonderland has on offer. Setari Camp is Setswana for ‘Tree’ and has been lovingly designed to integrate the giant riverine forest and palms trees which dominate the island. Winding walkways, high above the ground, interlink the tents, dining/sitting room, pool and gym, creating a massive tree-house from which to marvel at the panoramic views over the crystal-clear channels and papyrus beds beyond. Wonder at the magical birds and wildlife from one of our specially modified game viewing boats or from a traditional mekoro (dug out canoe). We also offer bush walks on the neighbouring islands where we hope to take in the resident elephant or sitatunga.
With wonderful vies of the Chobe River and the seasonal flood plains, its position means that it far away from the bustle of Kasane yet just two hours from the magnificent Victoria Falls. Muchenje Safari Lodge is independently owned and run. It is within the Chobe Forest Reserve, just a short drive from Chobe National Park. There are no fences between the Western Chobe Park Boundary and the Lodge; animals roam free. Chobe is renowned for its prolific wildlife and huge concentrations of game. Muchenje prides itself in the variety of quality of safari experiences, allowing you to explore the Chobe and all its wonders. There are wonderful view over the Chobe River from the main lodge and all of the luxurious cottages.
