2017 Fashion Show to Remember
We are writing to ask for your support of Heels to Heal by being a notable sponsor at the 5th Annual Heels to Heal “Fashion Show to Remember.” Our fundraiser, which has sold out every year, is being held on Friday, May 11, 2018, 7pm-10pm at the Vinoy Renaissance Royal Palm Ballroom in beautiful downtown St Petersburg. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Heels to Heal Therapy program. Heels to Heal Inc is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, founded in 2009, dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault receive resources necessary for healing. Each survivor receives 12 free counseling sessions where they learn how to break the cycle of abuse, reduce PTSD symptoms, and restore a sense of hope that will lead them to a safer, healthier environment for both themselves and their children. Through the generosity received by our 2017 Annual Fundraiser sponsors, Heels to Heal was able to meet our Therapy program goal by funding at least 75 hours a month in private counseling services for domestic violence survivors. Many of the survivors receiving counseling services funded by Heels to Heal are primarily referred by CASA St Pete domestic violence shelter facility and outreach advocacy group. In 2017, we were able to begin a collaboration with the St Pete Police Dept Crime Advocacy unit for sexual assault cases. 100% of participants entering the Heels to Heal therapy program do not have the financial means or health insurance to receive counseling services. Economic barriers should not be the reason that a participant does not receive quality counseling services they need. With your support, our goal for this year is to provide at least 150 hours of counseling services per month and expand our program to include adolescent counseling services. With over 6500 reported cases of domestic violence and sexual assault each year in St Petersburg, you can make a difference to help these survivors receive the healing and care they deserve. Domestic violence does not discriminate
based on race or financial status
Pinellas County had 6,829 reported domestic violence offenses, an
average of 18.7 domestic violence offenses per day.
11 victims were killed by their abusers in Pinellas County last year.
Of the last 145 fatalities, only 14% of the victims had contact with
a domestic violence center.
1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been physically abused by an
intimate partner.
