The hunt is held at White Clay Creek Saturday, April 1 from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. at White Clay Creek State Park State Park, with approximately 600 children and their family members in conjunction with the Egg Hunt. Representatives will be on hand to in attendance. The Egg Hunt has gained a reputation for the amazing showcase camps throughout Newark and answer any questions you goodie baskets donated by the fun and unique local businesses of may have. This location will make for easy access to the event, plenty of parking, and space for both vendors and visitors. Items used for food service will be required to follow the restrictions that the University of Delaware has in place for the safety of the athletes who use the areas for practice and competition. This program is made possible by the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. This merry event will provide the perfect opportunity to clean out and declutter your home as a vendor or find the perfect holiday treasures as a shopper! Direct sellers, crafters, antiquers, and repurposers are all welcome to provide a wide variety of available items in one location. The family friendly event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 22 from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. inside and outside of the George Wilson Center. Be on the lookout for Santa Claus who may fly through, he might just be getting a head start on his shopping too! If you are interested in participating as a vendor, you can register online at www.newarkde.gov/play by Monday, July 10. All vendors will receive a letter with directions for set up. The sale will be promoted through local media, Craigslist, George Wilson Center signs, Newark Parks and Recreation Social Media, and an Ad in the News Journal Garage Sale Section. It is a great way for local businesses, organizations, fine artists, crafters and more to showcase their organizations and sell their wares to area residents. For the past several years, WXCY has brought an up and coming country artist to the stage of Community Day, drawing people from the region to the event. The Brothers Osborn, Chase Bryant, and Devin Dawson are all now well-known names in country music and all have performed as part of the event. Interested vendors can register to hold a demonstration or musical performance and will receive a $15 refund off their vendor fee. ELECTRIC POWER IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR FOOD VENDORS! The race begins and ends at Handloff Park. The Turkey Trot has become very popular in the past decade with the addition of expanded age groups and the wonderful prizes, that are donated by the local businesses of Newark are awarded following the race that are. CITY OF NEWARK DELAWARE Food Vendor’s Check List The Office of Parks and Recreation in accordance with the Code Enforcement Fire Protection Office requires that all food vendors review and comply with the requirements listed below: • All food vendors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permits from the Delaware Division of Public Health. • Every food vendor who cooks with a generator, electrical hook-up or propane, shall have a 5lb. Multipurpose ABC Extinguisher readily available. Any use of a fryer will require a Type “K” Extinguisher in addition to the ABC Extinguisher. The fire extinguishers must be inspected and tagged, within the past year, by a Fire Equipment Company registered in the State of Delaware. • If a portable generator is used, no more than 10 gallons of fuel in an Underwriters Laboratory (UL) approved safety container, shall be stored at the vendors space. • Portable generators must be serviced annually by a licensed company. A receipt/invoice will be provided as proof. • Propane cylinders shall be stored in an upright and secured position. • Exit door(s) and aisles in the tents shall be unobstructed to the vendors at all times. • No open flames such as candles, lanterns, kerosene or gas fired heaters and cooking equipment are permitted near or under combustible materials (i.e., canopies) • Hot surfaces from cooking or heating appliances, such as grills, hot plates, and coffee makers, shall be blocked so that the public is protected from physical contact to these appliances. • Deep fryers shall have splash covers. • No frayed wires or overloaded extension cords are permitted. • Decorations on the vendor’s carts shall be flame resistant. • Access to fire hydrants shall remain unobstructed during the event. • The Fire Marshal’s Office will conduct an on-site inspection of the vendor’s space.
