Natural Energy Building in log is a highly energy efficient method of construction, producing a minimal carbon footprint. By fully embracing the latest log technologies such as insulated twin wall construction, we can offer a wide choice of wall configurations to achieve fantastic thermal ratings. In Harmony With Nature When you order a building from MyCabin.ie you are making a conscious decision to build using renewable materials, in a sustainable manner. For every tree we harvest, ten young saplings are planted. As you sleep in your super-warm log cabin, planet Earth is breathing easier thanks to your decision to live in an environmentally friendly constructed Log Cabin. Unlimited Possibilities Extensions, conservatories, games rooms - the wish list goes on. Our staff will be able to advise you on planning conditions and rules. If required, we can offer advice and assistance in the planning permission process. Whether it is a small extension or a major addition to your own existing dwelling, MyCabin.ie has the expertise to make it happen. Safety First By law, all windows that are less than 800mm above floor level must be made from toughened glass. Unlike some competitors, all our windows are made from toughened glass, regardless of their positioning. All premium windows have a ventilation position as standard, preventing moisture build up and promoting clean air circulation, achieving a healthier and more pleasant environment inside the building. We take great pride in being the industry leaders in all safety aspects of log cabin construction. Listening To Our Customers Be it a small room in a back garden or a full scale MyCabin.ie dwelling, we will be happy to provide you with a design to suit your specifications. We pride ourselves on being able to provide you top quality products, tailored to your needs, at an affordable price. 4
That Cosy Feeling All our garden rooms come with floor & roof insulation included. Wall insulation can be added if required, giving fantastic U-values. With full insulation, residential buildings are suitable for year-round living. Wood does not have the same conductivity as cold concrete walls, so your heat will sustain for far longer, meaning your heating is on less frequently, for shorter durations and most importantly, lower heating bills. That’s a win-win! Heating Options Our well insulated log cabins will always be more cost effective to heat than conventional block- built constructions. There are several options for heating, the most popular being electrical and gas, or possibly a log burner for the larger residential units. Electric radiators are usually the cheapest option to install. However, these are not the most cost effective when it comes to running costs. A gas combi-boiler is a more expensive option to install, but their running costs will be far lower. They heat radiators and provide hot water on demand, negating the need for an immersion tank and electric shower. The savings on running costs will easily eclipse the additional upfront costs within 3 years, thereafter, you have future proofed yourself with lower monthly bills forever. Log burners can give out a tremendous amount of heat and are only suitable for larger resi- dential cabins. A handful of small sticks is usually enough to keep a well-insulated cabin warm for several hours, there really is nowhere for the heat to go. They are usually used as a supplementary heat source, nice to have in the evening for that cosy feeling. Whatever heating system you decide to go with, you are guaranteed to have lower bills than block built constructions! The Green Jersey MyCabin.ie is an Irish owned company. Whilst the timber components for our buildings come from Lithuania, we make a point of sourcing all other components locally, from Irish manufacturers and suppliers. These include roof materials, insulation, guttering, paints, aggregates etc. By choosing MyCabin.ie, you are sustaining Irish jobs and companies, to drive a healthy economy. We look forward to serving you. 5

YOUR CUSTOM LOG CABIN At MyCabin.ie, we specialize in bespoke (custom) log cabins. Below is a handy tool to help you design your own log cabin. To make it easy, we have included our most popular window and door styles and sizes for you to choose from. If these sizes don’t suit, we may be able to customize to your specifications. Tips to design/draw your log cabin plan: 1. Always start with the external wall layout and add measurements. 2. Mark the ridge line (roof apex) as a dotted line across your drawing. 3. Add internal walls with measurements. 4. Use our window or door codes to add windows and doors. 5. Use string and pegs to map your building on the ground to make sure you are getting the space you need. NOTE: you need to leave approx. 60cm of clearance all around the building, for air circulation and maintenance. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be an artist to submit your idea for pricing! As long as you give us the general idea, we can work on it for you. ELECTRICAL WORKS BY “LIGHTHOUSE” At My Cabin we take enormous pride in the quality of work that goes into every build. We have made no exception with our carefully selected contractors that we recommend for any additional works. We believe that all carpentry work needs to be carried out by qualified carpenters. Highly technical contractor works needs to be done by the experts in the field. Therefore, we select the best in the business for each. Companies who offer everything ‘in-house’ usually deliver lower standard quality. This is not the case with My Cabin. Our recommended electrical contractors are “Lighthouse Electrical”. They are highly professional, fully registered and insured contractors delivering works nationwide. Lighthouse Electrical have a huge team that can cover many projects without delays and without stalling your log cabin building progress. It is imperative to have electrical contractors that you can rely on, as electrical works are usually carried out in the middle of the log cabin building process. Unreliable contractors can prolong the building process or on occasion, fail to show up and cause construction to stop all together. Our internal IT systems are all connected together with our contractors. We work together scheduling the project so they will know exactly when your cabin is being built and they will schedule in advance to be on site on time. There is no need for you to do anything other than sit back and watch as we do all the work necessary for your cabin to be exactly as you wish it to be. ROOF INSULATION Protecting your log cabin is important, that starts with the roof. A shingle roof can last ten years or so, but you will need to replace it eventually. We recommend a steel roof for longevity. You will have no leaks, no maintenance and it will never need replacing. And no, it’s not noisy like a steel shed! Do it right, and you will only do it once! 1 Premium steel tile effect roof (scratch resistant uPVC coated TATA steel) 2 Pressure treated 2” x 1” battens and counter battens for ventilation (50mm) 3 Eaves protector to bridge the gap between your gutter and roofing membrane 4 Breathable, water resistant and va- pour permeable membrane (0.5mm) 5 Fire retardant mineral wool insulation (100mm) 6 Pressure treated fascia board (150mm) WALL INSULATION By choosing external wall insulation, you will significantly decrease the level of maintenance required for your cabin and you won’t lose any floor space! Your structural wall is never exposed to the elements, therefore maximizing the longevity of your building. Don’t forget, you can also replace all of this shiplap cladding down the line. Why not give your cabin a new lease of life and further protect your investment! 1 Main log cabin structural log (45, 60mm etc.) 2 Fire retardant mineral wool insulation (100mm) 3 Breathable, water resistant and va- pour permeable membrane (0.5mm) 4 Pressure treated 2” x 1” battens for ventilated facade (25mm) 5 Shiplap pressure treated cladding (19mm) 6 Ventilated facade PVC trim (25mm) 46
STEP & FOUNDATION COVER UP MyCabin.ie log cabins & log homes can be built on either a block pad and pressure treated timber frame foundation or a concrete slab foundation. In many cases, cabins may need to have a custom step or steps built as the building will be slightly raised. If a timber frame foun- dation is chosen rather than poured concrete, a foundation cover-up can also provide a more aesthetically pleasing finish. STEPS & RAMPS The cost of one step is included in the timber frame base price. If the cabin foundation is higher than usual, if building on a slope for instance, you may need two or more steps. The step width is always the width of the door unless the log cabin has a veranda, in which case the step is made to the size of the opening of the veranda. An extra step double door width - €150. Extra step to suit a veranda width - €280. Steps are pressure treated. Our builders can also install a custom ramp for mobility access, these are priced on site on the day of the build. Double door step Veranda Step Ramp (Mobility Access) FOUNDATION COVER UP Foundation cover up is a perfect finishing touch to complete your Log Cabin project. Founda- tion cover up (up to 175mm – 6.9”) is included in the price of your timber frame base price. If the foundation is higher than one plank in height, our builders will calculate on site the additional cost required to fully cover the foundation. Our foundation cover up is constructed from pressure treat- ed shiplap cladding. Foundation cover up and steps on concrete. Foundation cover up and steps on sloping ground. 47
