Programs of the Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation Bay State Summer Games The Summer Games have been held since 1982 and feature thousands of athletes from over 300 Massachusees and New England communiies as well as surrounding New England states in over 30 sports. Tryouts are held statewide in June and finals take place in Boston and Central Massachusees in July. Bay State Winter Games Winter Games were established in 1985 and have provided opportuniies in winter sports for over three de decades. Athletes compeeng in Figure Skaang, Ice Hockey and Curling represent Massachusees as well as Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Rhode Island. Since their inceppon, Winter Games have been held in the Northern Berkshire Region of Massachusees in Williamstown, North Adams, and Piisfield. Future Leaders Scholarship Program The Future Leaders Scholarship awards six $2,000 college scholarships to Bay State Summer and Winter Games parrcipants who demonstrate leadership in community service, academic excellence, and athleec achievement. Bay State Games Sportsmanship Iniiaave This iniiaave to educates all Bay State Games parrcipants on the elements of good sportsmanship. The sportsmanship of all parrcipants is evaluated and parrcipants are recognized for exhibiing exemplary behavior on the field of play. High School Ambassador Program The High School Ambassador Program allows students to gain experience in the very popular Sport Mana Management and Markeeng fields prior to entering college. Ambassadors assist with markeeng Bay State Games in their school and help out with event operaaons during the Summer Games. Bay State Games Hall of Fame The Bay State Games Hall of Fame recognizes athletes, volunteers, coaches, and officials who have had an extraordinary impact on the people and communiies that are a part of the Games. Inductees include former Bay State Games athletes who competed in the Olympics, NBA, NHL or MLB. Adopt An Athlete Program Bay State Games created the Adopt an Athlete Program to offer an opportunity for low-income athletes and families to parrcipate in the Games at no cost. Every dollar raised through the Adopt an Athlete Program will help remove financial barriers and afford Massachusees residents the opportunity to compete. Athleec Training Opportuniies Each year, a team of nearly 100 Cerrfied Athleec Trainers, Athleec Training Students, and Physicians volunteer to provide medical care for all Bay State Games athletes. Athleec Training Students can use their me at the Games to gain experience hours towards their cerrficaaon and interact with sports medicine professionals. Internship Program The Bay State Games Internship Program annually provides 7-8 college students with summer internships in sports management and communicaaons. These 10-week internships provide students with a high level of responsibility and hands on experience. Former Bay State Games interns have gone onto successful careers in sports at the professional, collegiate, and corporate levels.
