Multicultural and Refugee Settlement Services There are various organisations in Greater Bendigo that directly support people from different cultural backgrounds to feel welcome, healthy and engaged. Loddon Campaspe Multicultural Services (Multicultural Services) Multicultural Services provides settlement support, community development and advocacy to migrants and refugees in Central Victoria. This includes help to find a job, learn English, find a house, connect to services and meet new people. Education and English Language Support There are many local organisations that provide education and English language support in Greater Bendigo. This includes primary and secondary schools who offer language support for students from language backgrounds other than English. Also if you have been granted a permanent visa or eligible temporary visa and speak little or no English, you may be eligible for 510 hours of free English lessons. Employment Pathways and Support There are many options for work in Bendigo including retail, manufacturing, hospitality and business. Jobactive Program Jobactive helps job seekers to connect with employers. The service is available if you receive an income support payment, such as Newstart Allowance, Youth Allowance or Parenting Payment, and have mutual obligation requirements. Their Disability Employment Services support eligible people with disability, injury or health condition to find and retain employment. Jobs Victoria Employment Network (JVEN) Program Provides specialist employment services that help unemployed Victorians gain on-going employment. Free Wheeling Fun If you need a bike, Free Wheeling Fun recycles bicycles and makes them available to the community.
