Friday, 9 August 2019 2019 SALA Festival: Tip of the iceberg Council’s 2019 SALA exhibition 10 – 31 August 2019 This week, students from Adelaide University’s internship program have been working in the Civic and Community Centre, to create a temporary art installation called ‘Tip of the iceberg’. Using single use plastics collected from Council’s office and Vale Park Preschool, the exhibition examines our reliance on single-use plastics through the creative lens. The installation will be on display in the foyer of the Civic and Community Centre. Presented in partnership with Adelaide University and East Waste. The number of fines handed out between July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018 (+ revenue raised) – Response 33 tickets issued, total revenue of $11,979 (however, of these 7 were subsequently cancelled/waived/reissued) From July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019 (+ revenue raised) – Response 123 tickets issued, total revenue of $43,036 (however, of these 42 were subsequently cancelled/waived/warning notice/enforced/reissued) If inspectors have cracked down on the amount of people illegally using disability parks without a permit? Every year, the CBCA brings children and books together to celebrate Australian children’s literature. From the stories and illustrations, to favourite bookshops and
of course, our amazing network of public libraries. This year’s theme is: Reading is my secret power. All the nominated books will be on display in the Walkerville Library during Book Week and there will be a special arts activity for children to draw their own secret power and put their creations on display. Dog Registrations for 2019/2020 Have you received your renewal notice? A copy of your renewal notice can be reprinted, if required. Dog registrations are due by 31 August 2019. Registrations are not valid until payment is completed. Failure to register your animal by the due by date will result in a late fee of $15.00 added to the registration total. An expiation notice may also be issued. Owners can log into Dogs and Cats Online anytime to check or update your personal details or animals records. The Nourishing Table -- - hosted by Walkerville Council and Vale Park Primary School Students from Vale Park Primary School prepare and serve a shared meal in the Walkerville Town Hall. This free multigenerational project is designed to feed and nourish the soul and is primarily aimed at seniors who are socially isolated and vulnerable. Attendees are encouraged to bring their favourite recipe, which Council intends to include in a community cook book. Ukulele Classes Term 3 classes Beginners Ukulele - 4:00pm -5:00pm This course introduces participants to learning the ukulele in a fun and enjoyable way. Public comment period for the 2019 Adelaide Airport preliminary draft master plan is now open The Adelaide Airport Master Plan 2019 outlines the vision for the development of Adelaide Airport to support the continued growth of air travel and the State economy. Continuing to focus on sustainable outcomes, improved customer experience and finding innovative solutions, short and longer-term planning, and delivery of facilities, infrastructure, ground transport and utilities, will ensure that the airport continues to serve the people of South Australia.
