Borneo Quest – Where Business and Adventure Meet Ooooha! Sarawak welcomes you! The Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) helps to connect associations, corporate organizations and government bodies with all the necessary elements to ensure your meeting is a success. Our role and services include convention bidding, developing new meetings, venue & vendor selection, corporate meetings development, incentive group development and delegate boosting. SCB is an NFP acting as a matchmaker to address buyer and supplier needs. MEA 2014 – Post FAM Trip Details Date: 18th to 20th May 2014 (With an option for one extra night*) City: Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo Organiser: Sarawak Convention Bureau *Note: We have deliberately kept this Post-MEA 2014 Fam trip short, keeping in mind the fact that you have already been away from your office for a while. It focuses on the culture of Sarawak. If you would like to view infrastructure, please take advantage of the one-extra-night option detailed at the end of this program. Objective SCB initiates ‘Borneo Quest – Where Business and Adventure Meet’ FAM trip for international PCOs and DMCs to have an in depth knowledge of Kuching, Sarawak and its available products and services; a programme that highlights Sarawak as a prominent business events destination. Selection Criteria Participants must be established PCOs or Incentive operators that have outbound business from Australia, preferably to South East Asia. Please fill up the Client Profile Form attached and share with us your history in business and simple examples of projects. Only 10 buyer seats plus spouse are allocated. Spouse will be charged MYR400 per person for the whole trip. Deadline for application is 15th March 2014. Please note that Kuala Lumpur to Kuching return air tickets are not included. Day 01- 18th May 2014 (Sunday) Journey Begins in North-Western Borneo… In Kuala Lumpur 0815hrs - Departure from KLIA. Recommended flight: MAS MH 2504 to Kuching (Other options are Malindo Air and AirAsia) In Kuching 1000hrs - Arrival at Kuching International Airport (KIA) - Meet and greet in Kuching International Airport 1045hrs - We Kick-off the FAM Trip with special Brunch at Restaurant / café offering sumptuous Sarawak delicacies and Borneo craft 1230hrs - Check in to hotel and freshen up 1430hrs - Heritage Discovery Adventure: This heritage adventure commences at the Kuching waterfront, with a visit to the “Tua Pek Kong” Chinese temple and Chinese Historical Museum where the historical Fort Margherita can be viewed on the other side of the Sarawak River and many more. (Attire: Casual with Hiking, hat, sun glasses, sport shoes or walking shoes) 1630hrs - It’s time to head back to the hotel. 1900hrs - Meeting at the lobby for transfer to dinner portraying a unique venue for incentives or themed dinners 2130 hrs - Return to hotel Day 02 - 19th May 2014 (Monday) Incredible Nature… 0700hrs - Rise and shine to the heartbeat of Cat City as breakfast awaits you at the hotel eatery. 0750hrs - Meet at hotel lobby for transfer 3
0800hrs - Meet Sarawak’s Man of the Forest: This amazing wildlife rehabilitation centre was established back in 1975 with the main purpose is to rehabilitate injured or orphaned wild animals taken out from the jungles all over Sarawak. Eventually, these animals will be released back to the wild. The Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is located just 12 miles south of Kuching in Borneo's 1613- acre Semenggoh Nature Reserve. (Attire: Casual with Hiking, hat, sun glasses, sport shoes or walking shoes) 1100hrs - Entering the Headhunters Village: Paddle along pristine rivers. Get up close to ancient rock cliffs; glide along waters so clear that you can count the number of pebbles at the bottom. For the truly adventurous, take a paddle out to estuaries of the Bidayuh people who are also known as Borneo’s headhunters. Kayaking adventures can be as mild or as tough as you want them to be, and are completely safe. Professional kayakers lead every expedition. Traditional Bidayuh lunch is included. (Attire: Casual with hat, waterproof camera, sun glasses, Sandal or wet shoes, extra clothes as you will get wet!) (Dry bag and towel are provided) 1500hrs - Back to Hotel for refreshing 1900hrs - Seafood Attack: Located within the Kuching City’s central business district, TopSpot Food court started its business in 1995. Situated on Level 6 of the multi-level car park, this open air food court not only serves an array of fresh HALAL seafood and authentic local delicacies. This is truly a Kuching experience suitable for incentives or conferences, providing a genuine experience without having to add themes. (Attire: Casual) 2100hrs - Transfer to drinking holes in Kuching. 2200 hrs - Back to Hotel for refreshing 4
Day 03 – 20th May 2014 (Tuesday) Engaging Jungle Experts… 0730hrs - Breakfast at the hotel Please choose one of these options: OPTION 1: Heart to Heart with Orangutans (CSR Program) OPTION 2: Sarawak Cultural Village (Cultural Experience) 830hrs - Meet at the lobby for transfer (Attire: Casual) Lunch will be arranged 1330hrs - Transfer to hotel for freshen up and check out 1500hrs - Shop Till You Drop: Searching for unique handicrafts and antiques to bring home? The Kuching Main Bazaar is just the right place to be. You can saunter along the shops and marvel at the exquisite display of items available. It is worth to go inside for a look, as a lot of shops have larger, more authentic and even more bizarre collections hidden upstairs or in the back room. Made up of a row of two-story shop houses, it is one of Kuching’s oldest streets which date back to1864 which is considered an ‘antique arcade’ as some antiques are said to be even older than the old-fashioned shop. - Early dinner will be served - It’s a wrap! Day 04 – 21st May 2014 (Wednesday) Infrastructure… In your own time Breakfast at the hotel, then check out with bags stored. 1000hrs - Tour of Kuching business event infrastructure The day begins with an inspection of the Old Court House then Fort Margherita before we move on to the BCCK (Borneo Convention Centre Kuching). BCCK will host you for lunch so that you can experience the excellent and highly diversified catering this superb property can offer. The afternoon incorporates the Sarawak Museums and other event venues unique to Kuching and the Sarawak culture, all tried and tested by SCB. (Attire: business casual) 1630hrs - It’s a wrap for the one day extension! A room will be provided to freshen up prior to your departure. A light dinner will be arranged for late departures to Kuala Lumpur and Australia 2130hrs - Depart to Kuala Lumpur.
