Miles of sandy beach, sunshine, yoga, and fun are yours as you join Jen and Harriet at Casa Om, our charming boutique yoga retreat center in Puerto Morelos. Fly easily into Cancun and travel just 30 minutes to our sunny home for a week. Enjoy an energizing morning yoga practice to start your day plus a quieter afternoon practice and evening meditation. Harriet and Jen create a supportive environment for all levels of students with classes that focus on breath, alignment, self-discovery and fun! There is plenty of time for hanging out at the beach, traveling to nearby Mayan ruins or exploring the local village. January is a great time to rejuvenate after the busy holidays and take time for you. So come and bliss out with Back to Bliss Yoga! Puerto Morelos Puerto Morelos, a peaceful village on the Mayan Riviera, is a place to experience the genuine Yucatan. In Puerto Morelos, tranquility reigns with open skies, long stretches of beach and a small town atmosphere. This is the place to come and relax, watch the sunrise on the beach, meet the locals, explore the natural wonders such as the coral reef 500 meters from shore, work on your tan or simply soak up the serenity. Wedged between the bustling cities of Cancun and Playa del Carmen, it has maintained its peaceful atmosphere of a charming Mexican fishing village living up to its nickname “La Joya del Caribe” (Jewel of the Caribbean).
What is included? 6 nights lodging at Casa Om Casa Om is just steps from the white sandy beach and also within walking distance to the center of town for ease of transportation. We will be practicing yoga in the gorgeous studio, fully equipped with props. Make sure you bring very light yoga wear.
What are the rooms like? We have a great dorm room for 6 female travellers...this is a bargain! You can gather your friends together or if you are a solo traveler; no worries. We will match you with your new friends! There is a bathroom en suite and a second bathroom by the yoga room. We have 1 room with a king bed and 1 room with a queen bed...so you couples...jump on this immediately! The remaining rooms have 2 twin beds. Bathrooms are en suite except 2 rooms have a shared bathroom that will give you a bit of a break on the registration fee.
What kind of food will we have? Ten meals including 6 breakfasts and 4 dinners served at Casa Om are included in this trip. Casa Om runs a full gourmet vegetarian kitchen offering extensive Mexican, Thai, New American and Lebanese food options. Some dinners may include seafood. All dishes are prepared with a healthy yogic lifestyle in mind. Gluten free and vegan options are available as well. Casa Om is strictly meat, alcohol, and smoking free. We have deliberately planned this trip with lunches and one dinner on your own. This will give you the freedom to sample the variety of fantastic restaurants in this village and perhaps sip on a margarita. Not only do restaurants offer Mexican and Maya cuisine but travelers who have settled here have brought their native food as well. Keep in mind that you are staying in a traditional fishing village so when the menu states, “Catch of the Day” they really do mean it. There is no need to dress up---it’s strictly casual here---bare feet and bathing suits will not be turned away. Our final night celebration dinner in the center of Puerto Morelos is included in your fee.
Yoga with Jen and Harriet of course! Jen and Harriet formed Back to Bliss Yoga in 2004 with the intention of teaching classes that integrate all eight limbs of yoga in an experiential manner and for all levels of students. We will celebrate each sunrise in Mexico with silence and meditation. Jen and Harriet will expertly guide you each morning in an energetic practice including asana (postures), pranayama (breath work), and relaxation. Our afternoon and evening sessions will include a quieter practice with pranayama, restorative yoga, Yoga Nidra, and insight into yoga philosophy. The yoga shala is well equipped with props for your comfort. Do you want to bring a friend or partner who does not do yoga? No problem…we welcome them to this Back to Bliss Adventure! Harriet Jen
