REGISTRATION OPENS Monday, January 31th at 12:00pm All programs will register online only! Register at: www.recreation.watertown-ma.gov Follow the link for “Online Registrations” Programs will operate indoors; face coverings are mandatory. Please look out for updates prior to scheduled programs. In the event of inclement weather participants will be notified by text/email that the program will be canceled or ended early. General • All programs will register online only at www.recreation.watertown-ma.gov • Before registering, please check that the participant meets both the age/grade level qualifications. • Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until a program fills or begins. • Payment must be made in full prior to the start of the program (contact Director Centola if you wish to seek other arrangements). Cancellation Policy • If insufficient enrollment causes an activity to be canceled, participants will have their choice to accept a full credit to their Recreation account or receive a refund check in 4-6 weeks. Withdrawal from Program • Participants who withdraw from a program at least 1 week prior to the start may receive a credit. • Participants who withdraw from a program less than 1 week prior to the start of the program are not eligible for a credit, as program expenses (staffing, supplies, etc.) will have been incurred. • A credit/refund may be given for medical reasons which arise at any point prior to the program start date. To be eligible for such a credit/refund, the request must be in the form of a letter to the Recreation Department. If the medical issue arises after the start of the program a prorated refund/credit may be given. Online Registration • By registering online, participants will have agreed to the accompanying WRD waiver & release forms. • You must have a valid credit card for online registrations. Please keep the email confirmation as your receipt. • A processing fee of 2.95% will be charged to each transaction, the processing fee is non-refundable.
Dear Guardian / Participant, Thank you for registering in our Watertown Recreation Department Winter II session. We are excited to continue to offer safe, fun, and quality experiences for you or your child. We are looking forward to continuing the fun this Winter and hope you are as well! Please do the following before the start of the program: • Read/review the safety information/protocols and discuss with the participant. • Let us know if your child has any asthma, pre-existing conditions, learning or behavioral concerns so we can be prepared to make a positive experience for them. Please remember the following during the Winter season: • Call (617) 972-6494 and email recreation@watertown-ma.gov when your child will be absent. • Be considerate of drop off and pick up times; you must arrive promptly at the correct drop off/pick up window. We encourage parents/guardians to use this time for grab a coffee, run errands, or just take a walk. Your children are safe and enjoying themselves we promise. • Label all belongings and dress appropriately for your program. • Keep us informed about any problems, such as changes in health or routine, or anything that might affect your child while in our care. • Add the Recreation phone number (617) 972-6494 and Director’s cell number (617) 312-9007, as contacts in your cell phone for easy access. What to Bring: • Wear sneakers/closed toe shoes and label all belongings. • Plan, pack, and dress appropriately for the weather and the program you are registered in. • Bring plenty of water and a healthy snack is optional for longer programs. Participants in most programs do not have access to refrigeration, so please pack snack/drinks with cold packs. • Face coverings will be required while participants are indoors at our programs; this policy will be revisited at the direction of the School Department and Health Department. Inclement Weather: • Due to the limitations on facility use, programs may be canceled or ended early in the event of inclement weather as determined by the Recreation Department. • You will be notified by text and email if the program is canceled or concluded early for the day and your child will need to be picked up immediately. Super Saturday Sports Come have fun and work on the fundamentals of soccer, T-ball, Floor Hockey, Basketball, and other games. We will work on skills needed to play these games as well as learn about teamwork and sportsmanship in a fun, safe setting. We will practice skills and drills along with having scrimmages. The program will provide fun, positive atmosphere. The program will give participants the chance to practice some of the fundamentals of popular sports such as soccer, field hockey and tee ball, while getting to interact with a group of their peers! The Recreation and Police have teamed up to create a positive and fun atmosphere for boys & girls to learn the fundamental of Futsal Soccer with drills, scrimmages, and games. Sign up today to be part of a team. Tuesdays & Wednesdays @ Middle School Small Gym The Watertown Recreation and Police Department are collaborating to offer a floor hockey program. Grades This program 6-8 will 77 Weeks: Weeks: February February15th 15th – April 13 13th th No No Program, Program, 2/22, 2/22,2/23, 2/23,3/16 3/16 3/29 3/29 consist of drills, scrimmage, and games. The focus of the program is to provide a fun, positive atmosphere while teaching the sport of floor hockey and the excitement of being a part of a team. Boys Tuesdays 3:00pm – 4:30pm Group Limit: 25 Fee: $25.00 Girls Wednesdays 3:00pm – 4:30pm Students will have the opportunity to use the gym for a variety of sports and games such as basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, etc. Occasionally, outside vendors will come with a variety of engaging activities for middle school students. The objective will give students the chance to work together to organize and initiate games under the supervision of the recreation staff in a safe and positive environment. Friday’s @ Middle School Large Gym 14 Weeks: December 3 - April 15th Grades 6-8 6:30pm – 9:00pm Group Limit 50 Fee: $ 25.00 Our volleyball program will consist of drills, scrimmage, and games. The focus of the program is to provide a fun, positive atmosphere while teaching the sport of volleyball and the excitement of being a part of a team. Bring a friend or family member to shoot hoops, play a game of volleyball or just get ready for the upcoming baseball/softball season in our batting cages. In addition, there will be arts & crafts and board games. It is a great option for those winter cold, rainy, or snowy Sundays. Participants of all ages and levels are welcome to enroll. Funding for this program is provided by the Town of Belmont and the City of Watertown, as well as user fees and private donations. The adult pickleball program is designed to provide exercise and fun for participants of all ages and ability. The program offers indoor court time to enjoy both leisurely and competitive play in a recreational setting. Come get involved in one of the fastest growing recreational activities. Wednesdays @ Middle School Large Gym Adults 18+ 8 Weeks: February 16th – April 13th No Program 2/23 7:00pm – 9:00pm Group Limit: 24 Fee: $50.00 This co-ed volleyball program designed to provide exercise and fun for adult men and women. This program offers indoor court time for adults 18+ to enjoy playing in a recreational setting. Thursdays @ Middle School Large Gym Adults 18+ 8 Weeks: February 17th – April 14th No Program 2/24 7:00pm – 9:00pm Group Limit: 18 Fee: $50.00 This basketball program is designed to provide exercise and fun for men ages 30 and over. The program offers gym time to enjoy competitive playing in a recreational setting. Sundays @ Middle School Large Gym Adult Men 30+ 9 Weeks: February 20th – April 17th 8:30am – 10:30am Group Limit: 25 Fee: $55.00
The We-Do Robotics system features LEGO models that incorporate working motors and sensors combined with simple programming software. Focus on programming pulleys, gears, motors, and sensors to work with tethered LEGO robots that you build. Create and program dancing birds, drumming monkeys, and roaring lions. Learn about simple machines, complex motion, and the concept of randomness while making working designs.
