                                 SHIRE OF YILGARN
                       APPOINTS NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The Shire of Yilgarn’s Shire President, Cr Wayne Della Bosca, has advised that Mr Nic
Warren has been officially appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer for the
Shire of Yilgarn effective from Monday, 6 September 2021.

The Shire President made the following statement:-

“Following the decision of Council’s current CEO not to renew his contract beyond its
expiry date in late August 2021, Council commenced a rigorous recruitment process to
appoint a new CEO who could lead the Shire over the course of the next 3 – 5 years.

Following the extensive recruitment process, Council at its Ordinary meeting held on
Thursday, 15 July 2021 resolved to appoint Mr Nic Warren to the position.

Nic commenced his local government career as an Environmental Health Officer with
the City of Wanneroo in 2009. He was then promoted to the Senior Environmental
Officer position with the City in 2012, where he remained until 2016 before taking up
the position of Executive Manager Regulatory Services with the Shire of Yilgarn.

Nic’s appointment was seen as a natural progression as he has displayed a
professional approach in all of his dealings with Council and has built up an excellent
rapport with the residents of the district over the last 5 years.

Cr Della Bosca indicated that Councillors and staff are looking forward to working with
Nic over the course of his contracted period”.

Another game under our belt, as we head towards the last 3 rounds, in what has been a
difficult & challenging season to date, yet, in so many ways, it will set us up to prosper in the
next few years, rather than just boxing on in the same old way & get the same old result, we
have endeavored to use 2021 as our building platform for survival, structural changes & on-
field future success! We simply continue to tick more boxes & search for overall
                    improvement.
Our senior playing list of committed local players & including our travelling players are quality people, willing to
play for the club & become good team- mates too! As the future begins to shape up & look good, as the hard
work is beginning to show through, nothing comes easy, no magic wand, no pretenders, no cheat codes &
definitely no short cuts, as character is at top of our list, hence why a few have fallen short, well short?
Our 4 year developing football plan is afoot, we want the local community to be proud of it's local football &
sporting club & it's players, however, we need all the support at ground level we can get, come down to the
home games, urge on these local lads, support & back them to the hilt, as the medium & long term future of
the club is in their sure hands & yours too--we need all the support we can get, enjoy our club facilities, make
your- self known & mix in, I'd be more than happy to talk to you & discuss our survival kit & football future.
The leadership group grow & develop as individuals, as they impart their knowledge & enthusiasm onto the rest
of our playing group, the chain of command is up & running & effective, these people are co-- driving the team
in conjunction with my-self as their football coach & mentor!
This week we take on Hyden / Karlgarin at home, top versus bottom team, but we are looking forward to the on
-field battle, we now know we can challenge & run with these teams & learn from it too, good teams can bring
out the best in you, individually & collectively, as we don't fear them!

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and
Communications is calling for feedback from people who live or work in regional, rural
or remote areas of Australia as part of its Regional Telecommunications Review 2021.

The Department said the Regional Telecommunications Independent Review
Committee (RTIRC), established every three years to undertake an independent review
of telecommunications services in regional, rural and remote Australia, had released an
Issues Paper setting out key areas of interest for the Review.

It said the biggest issue under review was the adequacy of the telecommunications
services people in regional, rural and remote areas used on a day-to-day basis.

“The Committee is also focusing on changing trends in the use, the impact of
Government policies and programs, insights from COVID-19, emerging technologies,
service reliability, regional development, coordination between tiers of Government and
the quality of consumer information,” the Department said.

“The RTIRC is seeking a wide range of views and experiences and is undertaking a
consultation process with communities and local stakeholders,” it said.

“Your feedback will be important in setting the Government’s regional
telecommunications policy agenda over the coming years.”

The Department said submissions would help the Committee understand the issues of
concern in regional Australia and to develop recommendations to address those issues.

It said people could have a say on the Issues Paper until 30 September.
