C O N G R AT U L AT I O N S - M o s h e Congratulations to Moshe Merz who was enrolled as a Senior Soldier on Sunday 3rd November. This is part of the testimony Moshe gave. “I grew up in a Christian home in Australia. When I was 4 years old we moved to New Zealand. I recalled my Dad was a man who devoted his time to teach me about who God is. Mum also played a very important role in discipling me. Things started to change with my Dad and his lifestyle. He started drinking and became abusive to the family, and everything centresdaround his job. My mum’s faith was something that I really admired during this difficult time. Mum told us we were moving to NZ. This was difficult for me to give up everything I had going on in Australia. I was very bitter about life. When we arrived in Hamilton we struggled to connect with a church family. One day Johanna Bouter invited us to attend this church. I enjoyed the services and became involved with the youth group. I attended Easter Camp, and this was where I found my calling to be a soldier for the Salvation Army. But didn’t do anything about it at the time. One Sunday there was some retired officers talking about officership and soldiership. I felt God spoke to me to talk to Marcus about my calling. When I first came here I was broken. I thought that God wasn’t on my side, but I learnt that it is through the hard times that God really shines out. When I saw no hope, God saw hope and when I needed someone to fall back on God was always there. What I have learned is that Satan can sneak up on you and bite you, but God is more powerful than anything, and he can change destruction into life. My commitment today is not for The Salvation Army, but the God who influenced The Salvation Army, to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and serve all people with the love of God.” CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST Are you interested in experiencing the world of the New Testament first hand? And when they had seen it, they made known 17 abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. 18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.” Luke 2:15-18
