Join Kelly Wahlquist & Teresa Tomeo on a prayerful and powerful pilgrimage to the Emerald Isle! This women's pilgrimage is a unique opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Ireland, to visit some of the most important religious sites, and to immerse yourself in the culture steeped in spoken traditions, lively music, and potent spirits! Slainte! Day 1: Tuesday, October 27th: Depart USA Depart USA on overnight flights to Ireland’s capital city, Dublin. Group flights available from Minneapolis, MN and New York, NY. Day 2: Wednesday, October 28th: Dublin | Galway Arrive at Dublin Airport where you will be met with a cead mile failte (a hundred thousand welcomes) by your Irish Tour Director. Head west through the Midlands of Ireland to Galway where you will enjoy its rich history, quaint narrow streets, shops, galleries and lively pubs with great traditional music. Celebrate opening Mass at Galway Cathedral. Welcome Dinner and overnight in Galway. Day 3: Thursday, October 29th: Knock Shrine | Galway After breakfast, depart for a visit to Ireland’s most famous pilgrimage site at Knock in County Mayo. Here learn about the 1879 apparition of Our Lady, then celebrate Mass in the Apparition Chapel of Knock Shrine. Travel around Lough Corrib and Connemara, Ireland’s most extensive Gaelic speaking area, before returning to Galway. Dinner on your own and overnight in Galway. Enjoy a variety of good pubs where there will be great Irish music and time to mix with local people. Day 4: Friday, October 30th: Galway | Killarney Depart Galway and travel south to the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher, Ireland’s most visited attraction. In the afternoon arrive in Killarney, with its wonderful scenery that includes Killarney National Park. Celebrate Mass in the beautiful neo-Gothic St. Mary’s Cathedral. Check in to the hotel and enjoy dinner on your own and overnight in Killarney. Day 5: Saturday, October 31st: Dingle Peninsula | Killarney After a full Irish breakfast, travel out along Dingle Bay with views of the Iveragh Peninsula and onwards to the fishing town of Dingle. Upon arrival, we celebrate Mass in the beautiful St. Mary’s Church, built in 1862. Some free time in town, before taking the spectacular Slea Head drive along the Atlantic Ocean, where mountain and sea collide. Our journey brings us back toward the ruin of the Romanesque Kilmalkeader Church, associated with both St. Brendan the Navigator and St. Maolcethair. This evening, visit Muckross Traditional Farms & School House for an evening of music, and entertainment and a taste of life in Ireland. Day 6, Sunday, November 1st: Free Day in Killarney Today is a free day to enjoy the beauty and scenery of the Emerald Isle. There will be select tours to choose from at a supplemental cost. For example: Guided Horse Riding, Golfing, Bicycle Ride, and Gap of Dunloe Tour. Day 7, Monday, November 2nd: Blarney | Rock of Cashel | Dublin Travel over the Cork/Kerry border to Blarney Castle with its famous Blarney Stone. Time to kiss the Blarney Stone, if you so wish, and to shop in the extensive Blarney Woolen Mills, which houses gifts and crafts from throughout Ireland. After lunch on your own, visit the Rock of Cashel, Ireland’s most important ancient religious site. Celebrate Mass in the beautifully restored Holy Cross Abbey which houses a relic of the True Cross. Continue on to Dublin, Ireland’s capital city. Dinner on your own and overnight in Dublin. Day 8, Tuesday, November 3rd: City Tour | Dublin Morning visit to St. Patrick’s Cathedral where Jonathan Swift was once Dean. Enjoy the Georgian architecture of Merrion Square, followed by some free time. This afternoon, take a tour of the Guinness Storehouse and admire spectacular views of the city. Celebrate Mass in Dublin’s Pro-Cathedral. Dinner on your own and overnight in Dublin. Day 9, Wednesday, November 4th: Book of Kells | Dublin After a full Irish breakfast, visit Trinity College, see the magnificent Book of Kells, an illuminated copy of the Four Gospels. This afternoon is free to do some last minute shopping in the Grafton and Nassau Street areas or sightsee on your own to see the wonderful National Museum, Jameson Distillery, or a tour of the Kilmainham Gaol, which was a notorious prison during the British occupation where many Irish patriots were imprisoned and executed. Celebrate Vigil Mass at St. Teresa’s Church, just off Grafton Street. Farewell Dinner at Nancy Hands Victorian Pub. Overnight in Dublin. Day 10, Thursday, November 5th: Return to USA Bid goodbye to the Emerald Isle and newfound friends before the return flight from Dublin Airport.
