DAY 2: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 10 • ARRIVE IN TOULOUSE | BORDEAUX Upon arrival in Toulouse meet your European tour manager and transfer via luxury motor-coach to Bordeaux. En route, stop in Saint-Nicolas-de- la-Grave the birthplace of Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, the founder of Detroit. Celebrate a welcome Mass in the local church. Continue to Bordeaux. Check into your hotel and freshen up. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner in the city of famed wine production. Overnight in Bordeaux. DAY 3: MONDAY, OCTOBER 11 • SAINTES | ANGERS After breakfast, check out of the hotel and travel to Saintes, where Father Gabriel Richard was born on October 15, 1767. Celebrate Mass at Saint-Pierre de Saintes Cathedral. Continue to Angers, where Fr. Gabriel Richard entered the seminary in 1784 and was ordained October 15, 1790. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided city tour of Angers. Visit and tour the Cathédrale Saint-Maurice d’Angers, the seat of the Bishops of Angers. Conclude with a visit to Château d’Angers sheltering the famous and immense Apocalypse Tapestry. Evening at your leisure with dinner on your own. Overnight in Angers. DAY 4: TUESDAY, OCTOBER 12 • MONT SAINT MICHEL | CAEN After breakfast depart to see the unique beauty of Mont Saint Michel. Perched on a rock in the Gulf of Saint Malo, it is one of the most famous abbeys in the world. During high tide, Mont Saint Michel becomes an island fortress. The causeway to the mainland is only accessible during low tide. Celebrate Mass at the Abbey of Mont St. Michel. Continue to Caen. Check into the hotel and have dinner as a group at a local restaurant. Overnight in Caen. DAY 5: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 13 • NORMANDY | LISIEUX This morning, visit Omaha Beach in Normandy. Visit the American Cemetery and pay respects to the approximately 10,000 American soldiers buried there. Enjoy lunch on your own, followed by time to walk along the landing beaches. Transfer to Lisieux, the home of St. Thérèse, whom Pope St. Pius X called, “the greatest saint of modern times.” Her extraordinary love for God and service to humanity come to life as you visit the Cathedral of St Peter, and Les Buissonets, her family home. On display are relics, clothing, and personal objects belonging to the “Little Flower.” Combine your prayers in the Carmel Chapel with those of the Carmelite sisters, just as St Therese did. Celebrate Mass at the Basilica of Lisieux. Return to Caen for dinner on your own and overnight. DAY 6: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 14 • CHARTRES | PARIS After breakfast, check out of your hotel and travel to Paris. Along the way, stop in Chatres, an important Marian pilgrimage site since the 12th Century, to celebrate Mass at Cathédrale Notre-Dame followed by a tour. Then, continue to Paris, the “City of Light” and check into your hotel. Dinner and overnight in Paris. DAY 7: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15 • NOTRE DAME | SAINTE CHAPELLE | SACRÉ-COEUR After breakfast transfer to the Île de la Cité to see the exterior of the magnificent Gothic Notre Dame Cathedral, dedicated to Our Lady. Continue to see Sainte Chapelle commissioned by King Louis IX. Time for lunch on own and time at leisure. In the afternoon visit the Montmartre area of Paris, perched high on a hill north of the city center. By the end of the 19th century the area was a mecca for artists, writers, poets, and their disciples. Walk through the Place du Tertre, explore the cobbled streets and visit the beautiful Basilica of Sacré-Coeur to celebrate Mass. Dinner on your own and evening at leisure. Overnight in Paris. DAY 8: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16 • SAINT-SULPICE | RUE DU BAC This morning, celebrate Mass at Saint-Sulpice Church, the head-quarters to the Society of Saint Sulpice, followed by a tour. Father Gabriel Richard was a member of this French society which began in Paris and then spread to Canada and the United States in the 18th century. Then, visit the Shrine of the Miraculous Medal (Rue du Bac). View the incorrupt body of St. Catherine Laboure whose guardian angel led her to the chapel where the Blessed Virgin displayed a vision of the miraculous medal and later the green scapular. Afternoon at leisure. Take an optional guided city tour to see the Champs-Elysees, Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower. Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in Paris.
