Ensenada is a coastal city and it is the third largest in Baja California with a population of approximately 500,000
inhabitants. Ensenada is located in the northwest corner of Mexico, about 100 km to the south of the United
States border. The county of Ensenada is one of the oldest municipalities and the largest in the State of Baja
California; the county prides itself by the quality of its agricultural export products. Tourism, fishing, agriculture
and various industries are the most important economic activities of Ensenada. The port of Ensenada is one of
the most important commercial, fishing and touristic ports of Mexico. The region of Ensenada has the largest
production of cultivated mussels and oysters of Mexico. Clams extraction and Tuna-Ranching are also important
coastal economic activities in the region.

Travel information
                                             Transport to Ensenada
Ensenada is 113 km from Tijuana International airport that has several domestic flights to Mexico City airport.
Visa requirement: Visitor from few countries requires visa to enter to Mexico
(https://www.inm.gob.mx/gobmx/word/index.php/paises-requieren-visa-para-mexico/see information in SRE
webpage).

Most convenient mode of transportation for international delegates would be to fly to San Diego, California.
This airport is approximately 145 km from Ensenada. USA visa might be required. (see information
https://www.usa.gov/visas#item-213289).
By land: Cars can be rented at the airports. There is a 4-lane toll road (Autopista Escenica) that connects Tijuana
to Ensenada. The road is 120 km long and has 3 toll stations, about $40 Mexican pesos (2 US approximately)
each.
Buses: There are direct buses from/to Ensenada to Tijuana airport that depart every hour during the day. The
cost is 330 Mexican pesos (16 US approximately).

We will arrange group transportation from San Diego Airport to Ensenada (Saturday September 7th evening and
September 8th noon) and back (September 14th). Please try to book your flights accordingly. Ideally, arrive to
San Diego either on September 7th before 7 pm or September 8th before noon, and depart from San Diego on
September 14th morning or noon. These scheme could be modified. Once you have your flight schedule, please
provide it to the organization committee to arrange the logistic of the transportation to Ensenada.

We would also arrange transportation from/to the airport of Tijuana to Ensenada. Details of the schedules and
associated costs (if any) will be communicated later. We would also arrange transportation to/from the airport
