DAY 1 Newcastle to Cardiff MT-L-D 7am Depart King’s Depot, 11 Concord Street, Boolaroo (off Munibung Road Cardiff) with boarding points at Jesmond and Hexham & Motto Farm as arranged at time of booking. This tour will travel along the Pacific Highway, leaving the Winter cold behind. A morning tea and comfort stop will be made en route before we arrive at Kempsey to visit the Slim Dusty Centre, a museum that features objects and images from the Kirkpatrick family’s own extensive archive, as well as contributions from fans and friends from all over the world. After lunch we will continue our way up north to our overnight destination of Coffs Harbour. Accommodation: Opal Cove Resort Coffs Harbour DAY 2 Coffs Harbour to Mermaid Waters B-L-D Following breakfast, we depart Coffs Harbour for Alstonville, to visit Summerland House Farm a beautiful, working Macadamia and Avocado farm set in the hills of the Alstonville Plateau. Following our lunch at Summerland House Farm we travel into the Sunshine State of Queensland and arrive at our Hotel with time to unpack and relax before our evening departure for The Australian Outback Spectacular. With more drama, action, humour and excitement than ever before, Australia’s favourite dinner and show is more than a night out – Witness the bravery, beauty and courage of some of the greatest Australian stories never told. Accommodation: Quality Hotel Mermaid Waters (3-night stay) DAY 3 Gold Coast Hinterland B-MT-L Breakfast will be in the Hotel dining room before we depart for the wonder and majesty of the Gold Coast Hinterland. The Hinterland is an area known for its diversity of fauna and flora and as a green backdrop to the coastal strip. Today we will visit many highlights of this area. The first will be a visit the Glow Worm Caves. The second a visit to Skywalk at Mount Tambourine, a spectacular walkway through the beautiful upper canopies of the rainforest. Lunch today will be at Eagle Heights Mountain Resort on Tamborine Mountain which offers a spectacular view of the Gold Coast. Our return travel to the Hotel will take in the picturesque areas of Hope Island and Sanctuary Cove. Dinner tonight has not be included, allowing you time to relax in your room or visit the Tavern next door.
DAY 4 Brisbane B-MT-D Following breakfast, we head to the capital of the Sunshine State, Brisbane. A guided tour of Brisbane and its historic landmarks is where you will find a unique combination of the old and the new – where sandstone cathedrals blend with steel and glass skyscrapers. After our guided tour we will venture into the city centre with time to purchase lunch before an afternoon tour of the XXXX Brewery, which will take you through the 135-year history of XXXX, from its origins to its position as Australia’s number one beer. A sunset visit to Mt Coot-tha which offers superb views over the city of Brisbane and surrounding countryside. Dinner tonight will be enjoyed along the Brisbane River, experiencing the city lights, under the stars! View Brisbane’s best sights including the Botanic Gardens, Kangaroo Point cliffs, and many more sensational attractions. DAY 5 Gold Coast B-L This morning will be a leisurely one. Some may choose to spend the morning exploring Cavill Avenue or visit the many shopping centres that the Gold Coast has to offer before our luncheon canal cruise. There is no better way to relax than to cruise the canals onboard a 2-hour luncheon cruise including fresh prawns straight from a local trawler. Views from both the deck and the large windows will showcase some of the Gold Coast’s most famous regional highlights – such as the magnificent homes of the rich and famous, the glittering waters of the Gold Coast Broadwater and its cavalcade of yachts and wharfs, and the glamorous Palazzo Versace. A visit to the Gold Coast isn’t complete without a visit to Skypoint, Australia's only beach side observation deck to enjoy the unsurpassed 360-degree views of the Gold Coast beaches to the hinterland and beyond. Dinner tonight is not included allowing a chance to relax or enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants on offer at The Star. DAY 6 Gold Coast to Coffs Harbour B-D This morning we will make a visit to the Carrara Markets. With over 400 stalls it's a treasure trove of the curious and the unusual. It's also the original home of discount shopping when it comes to fresh produce, bric a brac and almost everything else. As we begin our return journey into NSW we will make a stop at Thursday Plantation the original Tea Tree company, pioneering the modern Tea Tree industry. Our lunch stop today will be in the picturesque beachside town of Ballina. After lunch we will travel to Coffs Harbour through Maclean, on the banks of the beautiful Clarence River, which celebrates its Scottish heritage with the Maclean Tartan Power Poles. Early afternoon check-in to the Resort before our final dinner of the tour in the Resort dining room. Accommodation: Opal Cove Resort Coffs Harbour
DAY 7 Coffs Harbour to Cardiff B-MT This morning we will depart Coffs Harbour for travel to Port Macquarie where a trip up north would not be complete without a visit to Ricardoes Tomatoes. Ricardoes Tomatoes & Strawberries produces high quality hydroponically grown tomatoes & strawberries in their state of the art computerised technology controls two acres of greenhouses which controls irrigation, nutrient application, humidity, temperature, light, insect and disease control. Ricardoes Tomatoes & Strawberries pride themselves on being an environmentally friendly farm. Here we will enjoy morning tea and a guided tour. Time for lunch will be in the township of Port Macquarie before we make our way back home. 4.30pm Estimated return time to King’s Depot.
