MAKING A DENT IN THE DESERT: I M P A C T T R AV E L I N M E S A Featuring Keep it Wild Co. DECEMBER 9-12, 2018 | More and more travelers are finding purpose in their journeys and seeking out ways to leave a lasting impact in the destination they are visiting. Not only does voluntourism feel good for the soul, it’s a way to spread the message of need in the world and invite others to join the effort. This tour will include the new craze of ‘plogging,’ which has taken hold in Mesa as more and more visitors plan their adventures with a side hustle of cleaning up our desert. Our guests will work with Schnepf Farms and help maintain their 300-acre peach orchard, partner with Mesa Urban Garden on the winter harvest, and participate in a wine and weeding class at Agritopia. This tour will also feature a guided impact hike on our trails in the Tonto National Forest with Keep it Wild Co., a leading Mesa-based clothing company who advocate for responsible outdoor recreation through giving. AW E S O M E B L O S S O M S : SPRING IN THE DESERT Featuring the Peach Blossom Festival at Schnepf Farms FEBRUARY 21-24, 2019 | Each spring, wildflowers pave Mesa’s nearby hiking trails and the desert overflows with hues of red, purple, orange, yellow and blue – all accompanied by the vibrant green shades of Arizona’s indigenous desert flora. The setting for this tour is Schnepf Farms, a 300-acre organic peach farm that now offers pampered glamping in 1950s-era auto trailers at The Cozy Peach Trailer Park. Overnight trailer stays will be paired with farm activities such as seasonal u-pick flowers and produce, bike rentals, and dinner with the farmers. This tour will take place during the peach blossom season. We’ll head to Windmill Winery for Arizona wine tasting and big red barnyard fun and meet the winemaker at Garage-East located inside Arizona’s craftsman collective, Barnone at Agritopia.
A DESERT OASIS: SPLASHING AROUND IN MESA MAY 9-12, 2019 | It comes as a surprise to many that Mesa is home to three lakes and two rivers offering a variety of options for water recreation. Adventure-focused writers and influencers can join us for a ride down the ever-flowing Salt River via inner tube (known as Arizona’s floating picnic!), hop aboard the Dolly Steamboat, on an astronomy tour of Canyon Lake, ‘wine’ down on The Desert Belle cruise, and have a SUP adventure along the cactus-studded shoreline of Saguaro Lake - home to majestic wild horses. The only thing more captivating than these wet and wild endeavors is the breathtaking desert scenery along the journey. Cool down in Mother Nature’s playground while the desert heats up! Y O U R S T O R Y, Y O U R C H O I C E Throughout the year, Visit Mesa’s Communications team will work with travel media on customized, tailored visits that can extend from two to four nights in the destination. Upon request, we will work to expand your visit to include other key destinations in Arizona to further enhance your planned media coverage with more of the Grand Canyon State experience. Individual press tours require a minimum of four weeks’ notice and are dependent on securing interest from our hosts. Please email Communications Coordinator Johanna Lovett at Johanna@VisitMesa.com. Priority will be given to travel writers with advance, confirmed assignments and influencers with agreed-upon parameters for social coverage and posts covering Mesa, Arizona and our regional experiences. Media-rates are available for all tours upon request. Listed media tours, themes, and dates may change and all proposed activities are subject to availability. Participation is not guaranteed.
