WHAT IS THE FLAGSHIP PROGRAM MISSION STATEMENT The Flagship Program is a community-school partnership that en- hances the social, academic, cultural and physical achievement of Missoula’s youth by creating opportunities that help them to succeed and grow to become healthy and productive adults. VISION STATEMENT The Flagship Program aspires to develop a community of engaged citizens through healthy relationships and transformative experiences. How do I sign up for Flagship? 1. Review the activities available in the brochure and determine which activities are of interest to your student and fit well with you and your student’s schedule. 2. Scan the QR code labeled “Sign up for programs online here” and fill out the corresponding form OR tear off the registration form found at the end of the brochure and turn in to the main office or the Flagship Office. 3. Permission forms are found in the Flagship office (ask Sam) and can also be found on the Flagship tab on the Hellgate website. Permission forms are *REQUIRED* and must be turned in before attending programs. Students who have turned in their forms during the previous fall do not need to turn in another. 4. Sign ups can go fast, there may be a waitlist for your desired program 5. Mark your calendars and double check dates and times of pro- grams. 2

As a school based program, Flagship aligns with school day expectations on behavior, COVID mitigation strategies and safety. As a program we have designed our own policies and procedures to meet these school day expectations. If your child has ongoing inap- propriate misbehaviors a reflection and discipline referral form will be given. 3

WINTER/SPRING PROGRAMS SIGN UP HERE! Dates: February 14th - May 6th Time: 3:55pm - 5:30pm Location: Hellgate High School MondaysRambler’s Club Rambler’s Club is back and the weather is wonderful! Groups will go on adventures around Missoula ranging from walks along the Kim Williams trail to hiking up to the “M” and other spots in the area. No experience necessary, all skill and fitness levels welcomed! Conversations will be live- ly and highly interesting. Gladiators Flagship’s most popular program returns! Equip a foam longsword to defeat your foes, or choose to go long range with a bow and arrow. The battlefield is yours! You will be- come the Medieval foot soldier you have always dreamt of. No training or experience necessary! Safety always comes first. *New swords and shields coming* The Movie Theatre Experience There is nothing quite like going to a theatre with your friends, family, or by yourself with popcorn and a drink and being able to laugh, scream, and cry along the way all to- gether. At The Movie Theatre Experience (MTE for short), Flagship will emulate the experience as best as possible. 6
Tuesdays Filmmakers Club Ever wanted to explore the world of photography and vide- ography? Learn the in’s and out’s of everything with a cam- era. Create your own short film! Create your own documen- tary! Create your own photo gallery! Explore your OWN in- terests in this brand new club. Equipment is provided. This program is led by MCAT. Card Gamers Are you the master of the card arts? Can you shuffle a deck of cards in a blink of an eye? Or are you brand new to the chaotic world that is, “Nertz” or “Chaos Uno”? Either way, regardless of experience levels and card game knowledge, we play card games of all sorts. We will teach new games as well as become experts in older ones. Fun for everyone! Magic: The Gathering Assemble your deck and test it out against other players. Refine your strategy, trade cards, and most importantly, battle it out! Competition is always friendly as we work to help one another out to learn and master their skills. No experience required! You can bring your own cards or start from scratch. Don’t let the Black Lotus slip away! 7
Wednesdays Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) Slay skeletons, fight off orcs, explore dungeons and brand new lands, create your own character how you like it, roll dice, team up with friends, but most importantly, have fun! Cast spells, loot treasure chests, enchant your weaponry, interact with goblins, bards, and sorcerers. Join Dragon Slay- ers club today and start your adventure. No experience re- quired. Dice, rules, dungeon masters and participants pro- vided. Sign up quick, this is a popular activity! Science Zone Flagship is partnering with SpectrUM to host a science club! Activities will range from dissecting brains and other things to creating cool chemical reactions all the way to making your own edible icecream! Come and learn about the cool things in science. Activities will surely impress you! Tutor Time If you are having a tough time with homework or under- standing a school subject, come to Tutor Time! The Flagship Coordinator, Sam, and his fleet of amazing tutors will be there to assist you. Don’t let your homework score become a 0. Come by for as little or as long as you need. We are there to help you any way we can. 8
Thursdays Dungeons and Dragons Pt. 2 As requested, there is now more D&D time in the week! Here you will be able to learn the rules from the basics or you will be able to master the tactics of chess champions. We will play tournaments throughout the year and hold lightning chess games. No experience needed! Chess is a fun game with endless possibilities. Queen’s Gambit will be led by one of Montana’s best chess players. Come play! Craft That! Level up your crafting skill here! In this program, you will paint, draw, sculpt, create, design, color, all sorts of differ- ent things each week. No experience or art skills required! Channel your inner Leonardo DaVinci and make the next masterpiece. 9
Fridays Scrambled Legs The top excuses for not running or exercising is “I’m not good at it.” or “I can’t keep up with others.” You are in luck! At Scrambled Legs, these excuses do not exist because eve- ryone is brand new. This is a great place for beginners who want to start to run. Runs will take place around the Univer- sity neighborhood and will start off very slow, easy, and short. Improve your fitness, regardless of where you are at! (Outdoor) Yard Games Once the weather is warm enough, yard games will be moved outside into the courtyard. Games will include: corn hole, bocce ball, ladderball, and more! Games will be played in the commons until the weather is suitable. Come hang out and play some games! 10
Programs @ Lunch Spanish Conversation Club - Practice speaking Spanish with Sam and other students in informal conversations and games. This is a perfect place to practice speaking in a stress-free zone. Club will take place in Milton Zhinin-Barreto’s room on the 3rd floor. Any level of Spanish is welcome, regardless of whether or not it is your first time speaking, or if you are a native speaker. ¡Hasta luego! Eat N’ Hang (Everyday) Looking for a place to hang during lunch? Looking to meet some new friends in a safe environment? Look no further to the Flagship Room (170). Students are free to come in to chat, play card games, eat lunch, and hang out with the co- ordinator and other students. Anyone and everyone is al- ways welcomed :) Homework Club - Fridays Come to Homework Club and be productive with awesome tutors! It does not matter what subject you may need help with, our tutors are flexible. Get that assignment done be- fore the weekend so you can enjoy it! 11
EVERYDAY Snack and Hangout Club Come hang out with the coordinator, other students, and volunteers! There is free food provided for anyone who wants it. We talk about various topics, debrief the school day, hang out and get to know each other. This is a safe space for anyone and everyone! Come and chat! :) 12
Flagship Office Hours Sam’s Hours Monday: 11:40am - 12:30pm Thursday: 10:30am - 12:00pm The coordinator will be in the Flagship room during these times. This is a time and place for students who want a chill place to hang out, someone to talk to, need help gaining ac- cess to school and community resources, and/or check-in with homework help, etc. 13
