North American County Board Gaelic Athletic Association Action Plan 2016 - 2018 Prnmoting Hu1·ling, Gaelic Football, Camogie, & Ladies Gaelic Football in the USA www.northamericangaa.com
North American County Board Chairperson’s Message As Chairperson of the North American County Board it gives me great pleasure to be involved in the extension of our Strategic Plan. Having been involved in the planning process of our original plan in 2011, I’ve had the opportunity to see how it has helped shape our structures and our mindset of where our organization is going here in North America. Since our original launch in 2012 and working through the various Themes and Actions we felt were necessary at that time until now, there has been a massive amount of work done at both Administration level and on the ground where it is probably more visible as to whether or not our plan has achieved what we set out to do. I honestly believe we have achieved for the most part what we set out to do over the past 4 years and that in turn has benefitted our games here. Like all working documents there is sometimes a need to change or reevaluate what we are doing and this extension has given us the opportunity to do so and hopefully for the better. Although not all actions within our original 8 Themes were accomplished during the last few years it has given us enough insight to complete this document and what areas need to be addressed next. I want to thank all the Theme leaders and working groups that have worked so hard in preparing this plan and our Plan coordinator, Lizzie O’Connor, who has the task of grouping and presenting it. I also want to thank our partners Munster Council who have as always helped, pushed and advised over the years. Some people have moved on since our initial Plan but there has always been a constant in Pat O’Shea and Joey Carton who have been instrumental along with my fellow Board Officers in preparation of this plan. I am looking forward to working with everyone in implementing this Plan and ensuring all our targets are achieved in the coming months and years. Is mise le meas, Gareth Fitzsimons Chairperson North American County Board
IMPLEMENTATION & REVIEW MECHANISMS FOR THE PLAN This Plan is a living document: it will be reviewed, assessed and adapted to ensure it facilitates all units of the Association in North America in reaching their potential over the duration of the Plan. The NACB has put in place an Action Plan Implementation Committee under the leadership of Lizzie O’Connor. The committee shall meet as required to assess the progress of the Plan against its stated objectives at county, divisional, and club levels. The committee will keep the NACB updated on progress on a quarterly basis and will produce a report for the NACB every year before convention. This committee in conjunction with Munster GAA will decide the most appropriate method to carry out a comprehensive review of the Plan. This will include a club forum where club representatives will engage in a detailed review of all relevant aspects of the Plan. This will involve the assessment of current initiatives, their appropriateness for the needs of the club/county and the identification of additional initiatives to assist in achieving the goals and objectives outlined in the Plan. Once the forum is completed, information, suggested modifications and ideas will be discussed and reviewed by the Action Plan Implementation Committee. If required, the Plan will be modified and adapted based on the inputs received. These modifications will be published through the NACB GAA websites. The committee will also be responsible for communicating any modifications of the Plan to all units at club and divisional levels within the NACB.
